Barbara, I haven't heard anything yet...........I hope and pray they will graduate right on schedule. I understand that they have to call home if there is going to be any changes as far as graduation goes. So right now I can only HOPE that "NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS". If you hear anything else please let us know and I will do the same. Thanks, Cheryl
Adam's wife Rachel said that if their grad/PIR date is delayed for 2 weeks that they lose their spots in their respective A schools and will have to take any old job on board a ship. Adam was scheduled for Nuke school in Groton, with his wife and son moving from here (Tx.) and joining him on base. If he doesn't get his A school, Rachel will not be able to move on base with him as the Navy won't move her unless his A school is for at least 1 year. What a mess. We're just sick about all of this. Apparently it's not all of the recruits, just the males-the females are excluded from this. Not sure what the stunt was, but it had something to do with these guys opening bathroom doors when people were on the toilet.Sounds like a dumb kid prank, but apparently the Navy sees it differently. Adam said in his letter that the Commander was going to address their division on Monday 4/12, (the day after the letter was written and mailed) to determine the definitive action to be taken. Unfortunately, it's out of our control and we just have to wait and see what happens. Like everyone else, our flights/hotel/car are booked for next week. I think the thing that bothers me the most about this is the way that it's going to effect their futures. I can live with a 2 week extension of boot camp-hate it for our guys, but can deal with it. What I can't live with is the fact that this will negatively affect Adam's future and that of his family as he had his heart set on nuke school. What a freakin' mess. Barb.
Barbara, What a mess we are in........Do you think they are trying to scare the whole Div? I gave you my #. It's in your inbox. Please call anytime. I think our messages are delayed on here and my keyboard is apparently messing up......takes forever to type a sentence. Talk to you soon. Cheryl
I've been having problems, too. But mostly it's because my spell check thinks I write in Chinese!!!!! Have you heard anything about these pranks and what actually transpired? I think I'm going to have to break out a Xanax to sleep tonight! My brain and heart hurt, and I'm trying really hard to keep it together for the sake of his wife, Rachel. Bless her heart, she's devastated right now. What is a good time for me to call-I'd love to actually speak to you.
So I could REALLY use some help! :/ I've got my reservations all made and I'm staying at the Days Inn. But my boyfriends parents have to leave Saturday night but my flight doesn't leave until Sunday afternoon so I booked my hotel to allow me to stay there Saturday night as well. So I'm not sure how to get from the hotel to the airport by myself. Does anyone know if there's another form of transportation besides a taxi? It's 31 miles away according to the map I found and I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative. Thank you!
You might want to call the hotel and see if they have a shuttle that can take you. I was also told that the train station is right beside the Base so maybe check into their schedules and costs online.
see PIR 4/23/2010 group-- we are going to be wearing green scarfs for PIR, is that ok w/everyone?
sounds good to me.
Perfect! My daughter's favorite color is green!
