Anyone else have a kid that left for Great Lakes boot camp on 4/20/10?

I am still pretty new here, but would love to connect with any other moms with kiddos that left on 4/20/10. My 21 year old daughter left Dallas MEPS yesterday for boot camp.

Nope, no letters yet! I've been sending one every day, and I've been hoping to get one back, but I know these first few weeks are busy and privileges/free time are both pretty minimal. Less than 6 weeks to go until we get to see 'em though, right? Are you going to the graduation? I've been looking at plane tickets, hotels, etc. trying to find a good deal, but I haven't bought anything quite yet. I was hoping to hear from Marc first. He's an ET/FC and will be doing school there at Great Lakes, so I'm not sure how much free time he will have that grad weekend - I've heard how some people are grad n' gos, but since he won't be leaving town for A school, I guess maybe that wouldn't really matter :)

I watched a video on the RTC site about the various tests that our guys will be taking, and at the graduation scene I bawled like a baby. And I am NOT the sappy type :P Maybe I am becoming the sappy type though?

So what job is your son signed up for? What prompted him to join?
I know what you mean, I watched the graduation scene too. I can't imagine how I'll get through the real thing! My son Tyler will be leaving for California for A school. He'll be construction battalion I think, but don't know yet when he leaves. Yes I'm going to graduation but haven't got tickets or hotel yet. They are supposed to send a graduation packet in a few weeks with info and discount rates, etc.

Tyler joined after completing 3 years of college at WVU due to the financial crisis. He thought it would be better for him financially. I was really angry at the government at first but over it now. I just want him to be safe.

Hope we all get a letter soon!
Thanks for the advice Rebecca-Jordons mom :) I mailed a stack of letters yesterday, spending the weekend writing more!
I am new to this site but love connecting with others that are in the unknown ( when the box will arrive, the letter with address, pir date, exactly what you child is doing in bc). My son left out of Philadelphia Int on 4/20, woke up at 4:00 a.m.
and I got the call from him at 11:04 p.m., the standard I'm o.k., won't talk for another 3 weeks and I love you. (19 seconds)
After the call I was a little sad (just started my shift at work), but a co-worker said, "remember he has been up waiting all day to get to bc, he is probably exhausted". He usually is very upbeat and always trying to get everyone else going, it just was strange to hear him sound down. I will feel much better the next time I get to hear his voice, and maybe by that time I will have gotten a letter to let me know how he is doing. I also would like to say Good Luck and Best Wishes to all Navy Moms we are all treading new waters.
I totally understand. I did recieve the box on the 23rd and hoping for a letter this week with at least the mailing address and the PIR date. Good luck to you as well!
My son graduated boot camp on 3-19 he said the hardest part of boot camp to him was Processing days, those first days when they first arrive he said they didn't get any sleep for 40 hours,
This has been a great morning for me! USPS delivered the form letter and an hour later FEDEX dropped off the box!
Did you get the PIR Date?
Mary my letter said 6/11/10. I verified it online too http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp.
