Hi,  My name is Kris and thought I'd start a discussion group for anyone with sailors starting power school in March to go along with the main NUKE moms group. Hopefully this group can be additional and informative support. My son is an MM, he started A school with Class 1001A but graduated with class 1002A.

Classes actually start Monday, tomorrow and Friday are briefings. About what not sure. According to my son and his roommate, there are 9 sections (2 ET's), (2 EM's), and (5 MM's). My son is in section 2, he's an EM. He is looking forward to starting classes again but will miss the days off he has enjoyed. Didn't mind the watches he had to stand too much but the overnight ones weren't as great especially since his roommate was asleep when he got home and had to be quiet so as to not wake him. Rumor is that the two person rooms they are now in are going to become the Petty Officer rooms with 2 to a room while the smaller rooms that were the Petty Officer rooms will now have bunk beds and will become the INDOC and A school rooms. He was looking forward to getting a private room but will go with the flow. Sounds like there are a lot of new nukes going through and running out of room.
Kris, Happy Birthday (I always celebrate my sons birthdays, I was there also!!). My son will turn 23 in May. It will the first birthday I can't celebrate with him. Had to happen someday but I will still whine (just a little) about it and maybe my husband will treat me to dinner that day.
thanks Dana for all the helpful information!
My son started Power school today, he's a MM. Graduation is on Sept 3.
Talked with my son last night (he is in this power school that started in March), he said his wallet was stolen over the weekend, of course he had all his ids, drivers licence, etc in there. He said he was the second person in the last week who'd had it stolen and one of the other guys lost his.
Oh Kris! I'm sorry to hear that, my boyfriend is also in 1003 and his suitemate lost his keys and had to sleep outside because he didn't want to let anyone know, I guess he would get EMI for doing that and his roommate and suitemates were gone for the weekend. I felt so bad for him!
hi,
what is EMI?
extra military instruction. you get it for failing a room inspection or failing a uniform inspection. they basically take away a saturday and make the boys do stuff they dont wanna do! :( what happened to your son? everything work out?
i'll have to ask, he didnt say anything. I know he was interviewed by the chain of command.
