Hey there, my son Glenn will also be heading to Texas for Master at Arms. As far as tickets go, we have some really good friends and their son graduated last year. According to her we don't actually receive tickets. Four names of those who will be attending should have been given when they arrived or received in a letter from home. When we get to the graduation we need to have our D.L.'s. If our names are on the list we can go in but if its not we are not allowed in. We can go online and print our parking pass 1 1/2 weeks out. I work with a gal that is from that area and she said to either stay in Gurnee or Waukegan. She also said that we need to be prepared to spend a lot of time on the road and in line at the base. Hope this helps.
Thanks Laurel, the information helps! I am afraid I am waiting until the last minute to get all this done -but also I am not really sure what is going on. Do you know when your son will be shipped out to Texas? Some have said it could be the Saturday after graduation? or it could be the Monday? Just trying to plan our say and don't want to ask my son too much -he will stress out with the unknown too? How is your son handling it all? Wade said they are really tough on his division -but I am not sure what he is comparing this all too? I just keep encouraging and praying -I know it will all be fine soon!
Rhonda,
I don't know when Glenn will be off to San Antonio, I did ask him in a letter I wrote. Our friends son got word like a week before he graduated so I would bet we will get the same. Who knows. We planned our family vacation around the grad, so we will be out there until the 18th of June just in case. I know I have to prepare my self for him leaving right after but that's a bridge I will cross when we find out. I think Glenn is doing fine, he got over being sick for a few days but seems to be doing fine according to his letters. I missed his last phone call by 5 minutes. So, I'm hoping that he will be able to call again here soon. What I've been told by alot of friends is that if you get no calls everything should be fine. I don't know if I believe that or not. Hearing his voice is what I want to hear, I can tell so much just by his tone.
Anyone else in this Ship 11 Division 216 get a phone call? I saw where some of the other divisions called on Friday -like yu said no news is good news -but you alwyas wonder.
I got my second call today, and it was good news! The men in division 216 have all three flags and tomorrow, are going for their final flag, the drill flag. So amazing to hear from him, and they are doing much better and kicking butt!
My son said the same last night! He said they were all in shock when the RDC told them how proud she was of them and that they kicked butt yesterday!!! Keep your finges crossed for them today as they go for the fourth flag!!!!! Yay!!!!
I am so happy they are doing much better and I am very hopeful and optimistic that they will get their final flag! Go division 216!!!
I got a call this afternoon, too, yay! Marc said that they are going to the NEX on Thursday, so there is a chance (however slim) that they may get to use the phones again. So have your cell phones charged, just incase :)

Sounds like the guys are doing MUCH better now than they were a few weeks ago. Marc said Hell Week was not nearly as bad as they were anticipating. And there are only, what, 18 days left?

BTW, anyone else's husband/son/boyfriend working Ship Staff? Just curious :)
My guy and I talked for 45 minutes...sooo great! Ship staff, like second in command and what not?
I'm not exactly sure... not fluent in Navy Speak just yet :) He's not an RPOC or anything, if that's what you mean. It sounds like he gets separated from the division a lot, misses tests, inspections, etc because he has to go stand watch somewhere different. I always try to translate things he says into what we did in BMT at Lackland, but honestly, the Navy is a completely different beast, it seems!
I hear you on the Navy lingo! My guy missed out on his rescue swimmer test because of the wisdom teeth being pulled, but I know he stands watch like the rest of them, and I know the guys have all three flags and are going for the last one, which is so great to hear!
I'm not up on all of the lingo, what does NEX stand for?
