If you have a recruit in this division please let me know. I know that all of us who have someone graduating on 06/11 have to stick together. But it is so nice to know the family and friends of the men my husband is spending all of his time with. Also, I thought we could send letter or cards to each others recruits to add a little variety to their letters. Please let me know what you think!

I know my husband would be so thankful to know that I am getting so much support from his classmate's families. I look forward to talking to everyone on here and learing more. I can not wait until the meet and greet to be able to put a name with a face.

Good luck Navy Ship 11 Div 212!!!

That does help Brenda. I'm almost positive we'll do the shuttle. My cousin is retired from the Navy and lives in Arizona. We went to the NEX there on base and you know it's really no big deal. Truly it felt like a Wal-Mart for military people only. None of us in the family are shoppers so we'll probably avoid that too. I talked to Kelly's best friend last night and he said he called him several days ago. He didn't say too much - just that things are going good and he's ready to get out of there. Did you only print one pass or do we have to have one for each person in our family?
Hey Kelly, I printed 4 (i'm over causious) if I don't use them it is no big deal but I figured just in case. Like the girl scouts always be prepared. We were originaly going to take the rental to the base but after reading all the post that people said they would go and line up starting at 6:00 a.m. and while other people are being dropped off you see this long line of cars waiting to be inspected and left in the parking lot. I'll be impatient enough that morning don't want to be held up in a line of cars! We really aren't shoppers either and when Kyle goes its get it and lets go. I just don't understand when they get there pictures. That's another reason I'm checking a big bag at airport someone said if you plan on bringing them home make sure you have enough room? Did you know they got paid again on the 1st, Kyles check was a lot smaller they must have wacked them for pictures, uniforms, T-shirts, flags and what ever else they purchased from the NEX. When my father was in the Navy we always went to (they called it) the PX. Everything was alot cheaper but we haven't gone in a long time. I am so excited I can't even keep my mind on anything else these days! If I can help in any way (i go and read previous PIR groups and find answers to some of my questions). Everyone says make sure to have a sweater along at PIR they keep the AC up high so the sailors don't pass out. The poor sailor girl from 5/21 grad passed out hit her head so hard on the floor they had to take her by ambulanceand she spent time in hospital. That goes to show how exhausted these sailors are by graduation! well have to start supper and have one more night shift. Take Care and I'll be back!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Brenda,
I took the day off. I am exhausted. I am just about to write my last letter to bootcamp. I don't know what happens if mail comes after they leave. We will be some of the people in line at the gate, the Residence Inn does not offer a shuttle. I am getting anxious now. I just want to go. I keep seeing comments about receiving "the call". Do they have them call home after they pass battle stations?
I even got my suitcase out today. Making my shopping list so I can cook also. I am looking forward to meeting everyone next week. Someone mentioned starting a alumni group afterwards I think that is a great idea. I ment to ask you, where are you from? Talk to you later.
Donna
Hey Donna, If you are driving I would check out the Metro parking lot adjacent to the base parking lot, that is what I read on one persons tips for PIR. They said it cost $2 bucks and when you come out of the lot you walk up to the base entrance and walk in just like the people being dropped off by shuttles. That is why people are saying there is a lot of walking.
Sorry i wanted to find that blog, go to Forums then click on PIR - Pass In Review click the search box and type in 7/18/08 our wonderful experience, this woman has alot of good tips about PIR. We are from Bethlehem PA (The Christmas City) a Historical town the Moravians settled here hundreds of years ago. I am wackier that you the suitcases have been out since Mothers Day! When the guys pass BS they call home to say they are sailors they say calls start coming in from 11:00 a.m. through out the day. Also the RDCs usually let them go get a reward of food, soda, candy. Pray we get mail to let us know the exact date that our division is going to do BS. The alumni idea is pretty cool. I am going to take a little cat nap before my shift starts and I hop you get some well deserved rest tonight. Talk to ya later, Bren
Hey ladies I had a thought!!! So I've been told that the guys have to be back on base at 8pm. And I know there are lots of neat things to do in GL. So I was thinking maybe one night after we drop the guys off our DIV group (of moms, gf's and wives) can get together and hang out. Not exactly sure if yall would be up for it. I just thought maybe we could grab drinks or see a good chick flick or even the Navy Pier This will be our vacation for this year so I want to make the most of it. Just a thought!
Oh and I still didn't get any letters, but he did send another big envelope of letters back and man I realized I have written a lot. I try to write 4 or 5 pages most night and every once in a while I'll send just a page or 2. This is the 3rd large envelope he's sent back and he asked for another one last week. Holy cow! And I got the comfornation that the package with the cards made it to the guys on Tuesday morning so they should get them today or tomorrow maybe. I hope they brighten their day.
Do you want the good news or the not so good news? The not great news is that Josh got sent to the hospital May 22 by ambulance. He had blood in his stool for a while and didnt tell anyone and then started feeling sick from the blood loss. He did get checked out, but they weren't able to find out where it was coming from. In the letter I got it said that the bleeding had stopped though and he was back to feeling better.
GOOD NEWS!!! His letters (I got 2 today) sounded so much better. He sounded like my husband again! He said he still misses us (of course), but that he's making the best and most of it. He's passed his test thus far, except for his PFA and has one more chance to pass that before getting held back. But he says he's getting stronger and he thinks he can do it. He also let me know he's lost 12 pounds...not that he needed to. He could afford to gain a few. I hate that about men!!! I couldn't lose a pound if I starved myself (not that I would I like food to much) and Josh can eat my food and his and still doesn't gain a pound.
Ok now I'm just blabbing. Oh and something I saw on the PIR06/11 blog was that seperate divisions (the ladies from the site not the sailors) are going to wear different colors so they can find their divisions. What if we did that for the MnG. Like we all wore purple so we could find each other. Just an idea and it doesn't have to be purple just threw a color out there.
Hey D - glad to hear that Josh finally got things checked out. Why do men always have to wait until it's dire to get something checked out? Goodness! I'll keep prayers going that he is able to pass the PFA. I have no doubt he will. Glad you got some letters from him. I haven't heard anything for a while now. I like the idea of wearing similar colors but I've already purchased a dress for that day so everyone will have to wear white - ha ha. I didn't even consider what we would be doing after 8:00 on Friday and Saturday. That is pretty early to turn in - even for us older folks! I would probably be up for doing something although I would feel bad leaving the hubby behind.....any thoughts?
Hey Ladies, I've been reading other blogs and looks like divisions 209 and 210 are making their "I'm a sailor" calls! Still not sure when DIV 212 is up for BS ... it must be soon, though ...???

Destinye -- good to hear Josh is doing well. The good news is that he DID go in and have it checked out. That's what matters.

Hang in there ladies ... 7 MORE DAYS!!!
~Abbe
Destinye, I will pray that Josh passes these next crucial tests and that he is all healed from whatever the ailment was. The body is a strange thing, you never know how it will let you know that something is wrong. Sometimes really bad nerves can affect the intestines and cause this to happen, and we know that there were certainly alot of emotions going on in boot camp. Also I hope you will be with us as GL after going through all of this together!!! You started the group and everyone has really rallied around on this site. Also the losing weight thing, I told Kyle that when he was leaving for boot camp and knowing what he would be going through I promised him I would do something to make me feel like I was trying to help during his weeks at BC. I went back to my Atkins plan of weight loss and have lost 16 pounds in 7 weeks. So in a way I've been on the NO SUGAR BC. (Imagine a woman without Chocolate! Especially around a certain time of the month). But I did this once before for the fact that Diabetes runs rampid in my immediate family, and once you are on it you really don't crave the sweets. I still need to Know if you want me to bring the table cloths? I think we are going to have pretty many at the M&G. I think that the tables and banner and possibly Ballons on the table from Michelle will designate Our division!!!! Talk Later, Bren
Good for you Brenda on the weight loss! I am catching up on some older posts. It sounds like the M&G is turning into a pretty big event. Hopefully we'll be able to find each other!
I called our recruiter this afternoon to ask him when BS is and he said it's always the day before graduation. He wouldn't tell me what goes on during BS though - said it was "classified". I told him jokingly that I thought he was lying to me and he just laughed and said he was serious. He said it's so top secret that they don't even tell him. I told him I know he's pulling my leg now but whatever I'll let it go. He laughed again and said the guys will do just fine.
