My son left on June 22. I have not been able to find anyone whose child left on the same day either.
Hi Pammie.........my son, Alex, left on the 22nd! Today is the 26th and I'm waiting (not) patiently for the form letter and the "box"! I miss him so much - I didn't think it would be this hard. Where are you from? we live in New Jersey. Keep in touch....Denise (Alex's Mom)
Hi Denise.....We live in Louisiana. My son flew out of Shreveport & I got the "I'm here" call @ 12:22 am on the 23rd. I got the "box" yesterday and am now waiting for the form letter. I know what you mean about it being hard, I think it is more that I don't have contact with him. I still send him texts & have almost called him everyday. He was also supposed to have his wisdom teeth cut out yesterday & I haven't heard anything about that so I guess it went ok if they did it. No news is good news, as they say. Keep in touch...Pam (Justin's Mom)
Hi Denise,
My son John left on the 21st and we received his box but no letter yet.I miss him so much but it will get better and I am so proud. I live in new jersey. Rachel xxx
My husband left on the 21st. I got the "I'm here" call at about 9:30 Great Lakes time. I got his box of clothing yesterday and his info letter (with grad date and mailing address) today. He wrote a few sentences at the bottom of the info letter and said he wrote a letter to me but can't send it yet.
Maybe that means we will get our letter Monday. What ship & division is your husband in? Where are you from?
Ship 14 Div 275. I'm assuming they send out the letters on Mondays. I heard they get their writing time on Sunday nights but who knows. All I know is I want a letter soon because reading those few sentences at the bottom of the info letter made me feel so much better. It made me feel closer to him. I'm from Cleveland, OH.
That's what I've heard that as well. I can't wait for a letter from my son. The day before he left he went to build-a-bear & built me a sailor bear. It was so sweet & he recorded his voice on it so I can't forget it, like I would. At least you have his address now & can mail his letters. How long have ya'll been married?
Since May 6th but we've been together for 3 years. We have a 1yr old son and another on the way. I think that's making me even more emotional than normal haha.
Congratulations. My husband was in the Navy when I was pregnant with both of mine & was deployed for most of my pregnancy with my son. The emotions do make it harder at first, but they also make it better when you see them again. What rating is your husband going into? My son is going to be a MMS.
My husband is gonna be ATC (air traffic control) so he's going to A School in Pensacola, FL. What is MMS?
Machinest Mate on a Sub. His A School will be in Groton CT
