Hang in there they don't get a lot of time to write. They get sundays but they have lots of other things to do then too. Sometimes they can call at random times sometimes people don't get calls. I'll tell you what I've been told No news is good news. My son left Jun 9th My daughter got a letter friday from him. If he has a girlfriend you might check and see if she's gotten a letter.
thanks for the pep talk i worry like crazy and your right no news is good news i just want some news. Lol!!!!!!
Hello Trammell's mom. My son is in Ship 12, Div 268. He has been in boot camp now since June 15th. I am still waiting for a letter from him. I know how you feel. I have heard "through the grapevine, that it takes up to 3 weeks to get a letter. You should be getting "The form Letter." along with a nice box full of your son's civilian clothes. Have you received this yet?
My son's recruiter told me that "no news is good news." The recruiter said that our recruits have 3 phone calls-- one after 4 weeks, to tell us that they have passed a test, and 2 more after that. The recruiter said that the RDC use telephone calls as a bribe for good behavior. As far as letter writing goes, sometimes the recruits are moved around quit a lot and it takes time for mail. If you are really worried, my best advice is to call your son's recruiter. I think they are used to parents calling them. I believe it is part of their job to act as kind of a liaison between family and the Navy.
Sincerely
Sandy
Hi sandy go the standard letter two weeks after he left never received a box i think he decided to trash his clothes instead of sending them home hey i got a letter yesterday!!!!! he says he's fine passed his swimming test only 4 weeks to go. i worry.
Thank you trammell's mom. I am glad you got your letter from him, at least that is one worry off your mind.--(he's alive). We only have 4 more weeks to go. Actually 66 days. I don't know about you, but boot camp has been hard on me.
Sandy
If it's sad to wait for the mailman, then I think we are all in pretty bad shape. When my sailor was in bootcamp, his new bride stayed with us. It was a RACE every Wednesday to the mailbox to see who could get the mail first, me, her, or my husband. Then the "loser" of the race got a phone call so the winner could sing, we got maaiilllll, we got maaiilll!

Yep, we all pretty much become postal stalkers.
Not sad -- completely normal -- trust me -- on the "freak-0-meter" of moms' worried about their children in boot camp you are right at home with the rest of us!!! My son is Ship 10 Div 256 -- and it really is true, you know -- your son really is fine, just like his letter says - they are taking very good care of them -- working their tails off -- sure - sleep deprived -- without a doubt - but all of them are in it together -- and they are eating well and adjusting and learning and growing - and there are many reasons for lack of mail -- remember - the biggest part of this whole excercise is teamwork -- and letter writing priveleges - and letter recieving priveleges are the biggest best motivator there is.............
Thanx for the pep talk Lace. Yes I will admit I have been a total basket case. I need to "Cowgirl Up." You are right, our sons, daughter, husband extra are not going to die in boot camp. I need to keep this in mind.
Sincerely
Sandy
Hello trust what he says in his letter, they are fine. I know it is hard not to worry. We all do the happy dance when we get our letters and phone calls. My son is ship 10 div 256. They have all made it half way, these next 4 wks should pass fast, they will be very busy. Like Lacy said below they can only write on Sunday, so maybe you will get another letter this week. Debbie
hey guy's got a letter thursday i was soooo happy the mail thinks i'm stalking him ha ha my son states he's fine and his group is realyy coming together only 4 weeks to go!!! oh and he passed his swimming test hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sandy glad you got your letter and he passed his swim test. I did not get a letter this week, but the GF did, think this mean she rates above me? She said that he was doing good, sitting around alot and wished they had more PT. They were going to reclass this week for the ones wanting to change jobs. I know Michael is going to try and change his otherwise he will be on a sub. He's not so sure about it. Debbie
