Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

You will get a list of things that she will need to bring with her before she goes in they will let you know what is needed. Not much . After she is in her personal belongs will be sent back to you. They do not leave base at all during their boot camp. Most arrive at night so they cannot see what is around them .That is what happened with my son. When it is over though they are like little kids again can not wait to eat junk food ,candy ect and just get out and explore. Pretty cute.Going to Great Lakes ??? That is where my son went through. Good place. Graduation is really nice ,spectacular. Kym

She can take her wallet with Drivers License, make sure she does take her Social Security Card AND if she already has a bank account make sure she takes a Direct Deposit form from her bank. If she doesn't have an account she can open one there with the Navy Federal Credit Union.
She will also need an activated calling card. Make sure she knows how to use it. She can take a cell phone to use along the way, make the "I'm here" call and pack it up to be sent home.
Good suggestions. She should have a slim wallet, something plain. She can take stamps in the wallet and a list of phone numbers and addresses. Sometime an address book gets sent back, so having numbers and such in the wallet is a good idea. She can have a picture in there too. $20 in cash for the trip.

She can take feminine hygiene supplies, and she should have some with her, the stress of boot camp can throw a woman's system off cycle. No Midol/Pamprin, not allowed.

She can have a pocket bible, keep it tiny. She can also have a religious medal if it is smaller than a dog tag.

She needs to rest when she can, try to sleep on the plane. When the recruits get to Great Lakes, they will be kept awake for a day or two. When she gets to O'Hare, she should grab a bite before she reports in at the USO. They won't let her eat until much later. All part of the process.
