My daughter leaves July 19th this web site gives you great advise on what to prepare for. I don't think anything can prepare you for the departure I am very nervious. Where is he leaving from my daughter is leaving from Houston.
My son is leaving from Knoxville, TN. I am a little nervous, but I think I have accepted the fact that he is growing up (as hard as that is to believe).. HOw old is your daughter? My son is 19.
My daughter is 18 just graduated. I didn't think she would leave so soon but at MEPS she got her job and BC date. She will go to A school in Pennsicola FL after. Are you going to see him swear in? I am going but some people I talked said they didn't go. My daughter is excited I am getting very anxious but I make sure we spend 1 hour a day everyday. Thanks for your response :)
i went to my son's swearing in it was very nice. ginger
My son Aaron is leaving on July 21st from Anchorage, Alaska. I am very proud, but at the same time very sad. It's hard to accept that he is grown up. I am counting down the days until he leaves and am taking a few days off after in case I am a wreck. He is nervous too...I keep reassuring him that although he is an adult and leaving, I will always be here for him. Take care, I know this is a hard time in our lives.
Chris is starting to get nervous now. I am also counting down the days until he leaves. I only took the one day off and am hoping that staying busy will make the time go by faster. I remind Chris everyday how proud we are of him and that we are nervous too but that is part of growing up. I also tell Chris that we are always here for him. You take care as well and tell Aaron that we would like to thank him for serving our country. You never know maybe we will see you at PIR.
Hi Bobbie! How are you holding up? We have to drop Aaron off at 4 p.m. tomorrow at MEPS. He is nervous now too. We are finishing boxing up stuff to store in the garage. Then we are off to get stamps and a phone card. I am proud and happy one minute , then sad the next. Take care and yes, maybe we will see you at PIR.
Hey there. I am doing well. The recruiter is picking Chris up tomorrow morning and then we are meeting him for dinner tomorrow night. Chris leaves to go to bc on Thursday-flight leaves around 4pm. Keep me posted on Aaron's group/division and PIR date. I too am happy one minute and sad the next but I am so proud of him that it outweighs the sadness. I am just going to miss him soo much. Tell Aaron good luck and that we are thinking of him and your family as well. Take care and keep in touch. By the way I sent you a friend request. Talk to you soon!!
Yes it is Kayse leaves on a Monday and I turn 40 on that Friday. Everyone askes what do you want to do for your birthday......um get through my daugther leaving LOL I don't even care I'm turning 40. I'm sure your son will be fine we have to be there for them and (thank GOD for this site) each other.
My boyfriend left in March and graduated boot camp on May 21st. He is now in Pensacola for A-School and will be stationed in Norfolk, VA. This site helped SO much to get through those first 8 weeks! They create a group for your specific PIR date, so once you get that date from your daughter, join that group. We became friends and met at PIR and it seemed like we had all known each other for a long time! Receiving letters from my boyfriend definitely helped me get through boot camp, just waiting each week. Thank you to your daughter for serving!
I am going to see him swear in and then off to the airport. Chris will go to A school in San Antonio,TX. I try to spend as much time with Chris as I can but he is also trying to spend time with his girlfriend before he leaves. We try to do things together so no one feels left out. I just know how much I am goin to miss him!! I agree thank God for this site and the new friends I have met. Surely with this support we will be able to survive! lol
Yeah, it's definitely weird at first not having that constant communication (I got "good morning" texts EVERYDAY prior to bootcamp!). When it was finally time for PIR, all my friends would say "wow, those two months went really quickly!"...yeah, not so much for us huh?! Haha but with the help of this site and the hand written letters, it'll get better! Then once he's in A-School, he can talk all he wants, unless he's in class or on watch of course!
