I was reading on the "boot camp for moms group" and I saw a couple of things that peaked my interest,
1.) Post office has "Salior's stamps" for sale on thier web site. I bought some of those
2.) Miley Cirus has a t-shirt at walmart that says "every girl loves a salior" for $7
3.) A bought a banner at bulidasign a long time ago for when my salior returns home from A-school, but some where saying about decorating thire cars for PIR, so I went to walmart and bought white shoe polish to decorate my car (like when your senior graduates high school or someone gets married.
Anyway I thought I'd share.
Haha, I totally bought the shirt at Walmart :) I think I am going to wear it to PIR with some navy blue pants or capris. It is really cute! Also, I wonder if I could buy the Sailor Stamps at the post office. I am going to go find out tomorrow and I will let you know.
I might get it too:) I'll have to take a look at the post office site to see if they have the sailor stamps.
I'm going to get one too ... that would be awesome for all of us to wear that shirt :)
I bought a shirt at walmart the day I posted it one here:) that would be cool for all us to wear it (meet and greet or PIR?) Also remember if your post office doesn't have them, you can order them from the usps site, it's under stamps, then click on educational.
Thanks Amber! I am going to try to order them tonight. Also, I love the idea aobut all wearing the same shirts, that would be SO cute!
Things my SR told me through my questionnaires I sent him:
30 min after chow they do PT
Division is doing "pitiful" working as a team - dated 7/21/2010
They "throw" there mail to them
He does night watch maybe 1x a week
They wake up each morning to an officer yelling
An officer comes around and does "bed checks" at night to make sure their in bed
They send their laundry out to be cleaned, but doesn't come back clean and everyone "hands out" laundry
Cleaning the barracks is assigned as a duty/job
They sleep in P.J's
They do IT about 2 times a day and 20 times a week and only for when someone "messes up"
He says he fills up his canteen once a day, (I think he needs to drink more water, but I'm not going to nag him on that, lol)
Said they did not get their cokes an stuff that they where suppose to get on Sunday the 17th
They do all their training indoors but have to march outside to get to the NEX (1-2 miles away): Freedom Hall (PT building)- 1 mile away: Medical and Dental is on the other side of base (unsure of miles)
I asked what he did for the 48/hours with only 3 hours sleep- He stated “a bunch of stuff, I’ll explain on the phone –this was dated July 22ed, so maybe another phone call soon.    
My guy said the same thing about water. He's not getting enough either. I don't think it's your son not drinking enough, it's that they aren't letting them??? Not sure about that... my guy really wants more water.

Oh, he said that they're allowed to go to the bathroom any time they want except during tests and inspections. I'm figuring there probably are a few other times too...
There will be another phone call, my hubby said it should come in two weeks (his was dated July 20th) He said there should also be a call after battlestations. (Duh, we all know about that one) He also said he is the only SR from Virginia there, that all the others from the Petersburg MEPS went to other divisions. He said a lot of them are from California. Incidentally, he also thought we weren't doing too bad as a division, but that some of the others were really immature. (Like 17 year olds or something)
I'm from Virginia... but my son was living in Delaware when he signed up, and flew out of Md. with Angels sailor!! Could'nt find shirt at Walmart:) Got a blue one for kid with sailor hat !!
Yay! So, two weeks from the 20th is Aug 3rd... so around then! I am so excited to hear his voice again :) REALLY glad to hear that they seem to be working well as a division, that is so important. Funny how a lot of them are from CA, that is where my SR is from. We live in So. Cal. I said he met someone from San Diego but that was it from "our area" but that was from about two weeks ago so hopefully he has met others from CA by now.
I got a letter yesterday. My SR said, unfortunately, they didn't get high enough on that test to get their phone calls. They needed a 4.2 for the calls, a 4.0 to flag, and they only got a 3.93 or something like that. Dangnabbit.

My SR has been sick, we knew that, but the ENTIRE division had IT on last Thursday and THEN PT. He ended up in medical with a LOT of pain. Apparently they only gave him over the counter meds and the doc waived him to go back to the division but he had a follow up in the morning. I haven't gotten a phone call so I'm not sure what's going on. I hope there is a letter waiting for me when I get home.

On the UP side, as of the 22nd, the entire division was graduating on the 20th (so he says), but their average is still very low (the worst Division in the Ship maybe even the entire RTC). And some of the guys are still fighting after taps. He's a little pissed because with them being an all-male division you'd think they'd use that strength to plow through a lot of what's going on. Not that women are weak (heck I recognize limitations) just that all guys can take hits and keep going while some (not all) girls don't have that ability. Ah well. Hopefully their week 4 includes my SR and hopefully everyone else is doing ok.
