For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Yes he'll need a phone card for his calls home.Send one with lots of minutes and if it isn't activated in the store, activate it before you send it.

My daughter asked me to call her recruiter and see how to send her contacts and make up for PIR. I've left two messages, but he hasn't returned my call. PIR is 9/2, any suggestions?

A neat idea a friend gave me...Have your recruits close friends and family take pictures of themselves with a digital camera..holding up a sign with a message to your recruit...upload it to ..I use shutterfly but whatever you use and order the prints and send them to the recruits very personal way to say hello

My husband is in BC since August 17. 3 days... Recruiter said they don't need stamps, envelopes, phone cards, nothing. He said everything will be provide. And now I'm reading all discussions and they are confusing me bz every mom is telling "I sent stamps, I sent paper etc... I didn't.

My 18 yr old son went in on 8/17. I, like you, do not know if I can send stamps/envelopes. I guess we'll find out later.

Hi! I'm Joanne-my daughter went to GL, IL 8/24. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the first letter? It seems like you all have already waited a week or so and still not heard anything? Thank you! Hope we all hear soon! JB

babysbreath You will get your form letter and "kid in a box" in about 10-14 days. The form letter will have address, ship./div #, PIR (Pass In Review=grauation) date, password for gate pass (need this for PIR) and a note from your rct.
The box will be delivered by FedEx
You should be able to get temporary addres from the recruiter in 72 hours after your rct left.
Most real letters don't start arriving till around week 2 or 3...they won't get mail from you either till around the same time.

when do they normally get letters? i got his address last wednesday. when he spoke to his dad this past monday he hadnt received any letters from me yet. he should either end of this week or next right? i know it takes time im just worried because he said alot of people have and he's worried and is concerned i can tell in his last letter that he thinks i'm starting to forget about him :(

My son graduated 08/27/10. We were told that letters sent to your recruit can take anywhere for 5 to 10 days to process once it reaches the sorting facility on base. Letters home will arrive faster. Keep sending letters every week if possible, ask other family members, aunts, uncles, siblings and friends to just send a little something. My son said letters from home were uplifting and got him through the day.
