We saw her sworn in yesterday morning, we texted while she was at the airport. She called when she got to Chicago, and then heard from her again about midnight, said she'd call in 3 weeks. Hope she is making it okay today.....

Charlee,
I am glad she made it there safely and that you got the I'm here call. Hope you are doing ok!!! Now you can start writing those letters and have them all set to send as soon as you get her address. Her recruiter should be able to get it for you in a few days. Let us hear from you as you go through this journey!!!!
thanks so much!
Charlee, I used to remind my g'daughter each week that she had moved up one rung on the ladder toward PIR. After the first week her class was no longer the newest at BC and so on until her class was the closest to graduation. I'm not sure if this booster her morale but it did mine! Here is a link to what your daughter will be doing week by week. I also used similar information to comment on what she should be accomplishing.

Many hugs!
Charlee, just happened to pass through the website today and your entry caught my attention. I can remember being where you are now and my heart goes out to you! Your daughter is probably questioning her decision to join the navy right now but if she has any determination at all, she'll get through just fine. Basic will be easier for her after the first few weeks. You will be fine, too, I promise. Time will pass quickly for you once you start making plans to go to Great Lakes. Then when she gets in A school and beyond, for the most part, it will be much the same as her having a job in another state. I have to admit it will be much harder on you than her, but in a year or so you will be amazed at how much she's grown. Best of luck to you all!

P. S. Be sure to write to her often (daily if you can) while she's in basic.
Thanks for the words of encouragement!
Got the KIB today! Most everything was sent home, clothes, backpack, notebook, but she did get to keep some makeup that she took, unless they threw it away.. She addressed the box, her handwriting looked steady, so that seemed promising, mine would have been all over the place! Let me know if you got your box today..
That's great Charlee!!! I'm glad you got your box!!!!
Hi we are from houston as well and my daughter leaves 9/13 and i just wanted to ask what time did they swear in? because we do want to go see her swear in but we dont know what time she would do that.
Hi, I was told they do it at 10 and 12, we went at 10, very short process, took a few pictures, then she signed her contract. She came out we took a few more pictures and said our goodbyes. They took them to the airport and set there for about 4 hours until flight left. There is a parking garage right across the street, $6 we parked there. You do have to go through security down stairs, but not a big deal, we were the only parents there, out of 10 or 12 kids. WE also went to the hotel the night before after they checked her in and had dinner right next door at the Saltgrass Steak house, that was nice to have the Last Supper together, they stay way out 59 S past the loop. She called when she got to Chicago and then when she got to GL about midnight. Took about a week to get the letter, box about 5 days. I know this is scattered, just thinking as I remember... Let me know if I can help you with anything else...
do you know if we can go with her to the airport? or are we not allowed to?
I don't know, we just chose to say our goodbyes downtown.
Hi, I guess your daughter left 9/13, have you heard any news from her??
