Hi Ursula.... Yes, I am so excited! He said he is in the choir : ) He said they have not started physical training yet. (maybe that's why he sounds so good) LOL He actually said the food is great. He also said he is really getting along with the other guys. I couldn't have asked for better news from him.
Wow, that's just terrific! Sounds like what we've been reading, about them not starting anything too intense for 7-10 days may be true huh? :) I sent Davon another letter today (yikes, I sent my first 4 Tuesday, the one's i've been writing since July), and asked him how was the food, is he sleeping, things like that. See, Davon has NOT been trying very hard to get a sleep pattern down - stayed up late all the time, watchin tv, xbox live, havin' friends over, etc., so I know I can't do a darn thing at this stage of the game, but I'm still worried for him. So, I can't wait to hear if he's resting okay (like he has much choice either :)
They are young, it's not like you and I who have to get our 7 hours or we can't function. I have watched my son many nights hang out with his friends all night and still get up with 2 hours of sleep and go to his part time job. They don't need as much sleep as us. I bet when they start their PT, they will get their sleep. Poor babies, I hope my son can handle all that physical stuff. : )
Oh...I am so glad!!!! Sorry to reply so late but we have been moving the last few days. UUUGHHH. Such a task. So glad he sounds good and now you can rest a little easier. Now that we all have our letters, boxes and form letters, I'm holding out hope a phone call with come this week. Be sure to post if you get to hear from yours by live voice!
My daughter had PIR 7-23. I have shared info with y'all before. She was in the choir. Today we got the DVD of PIR. It was really good. Especially since she was in the choir. They had a perfect view of her up close and personal. I could see her in the video much better than I could at PIR. And I could make out her voice when they sang. It was heavenly. Make sure you have your recruit order the DVD when they order pictures.
Hello all! Did everyone get their first letter yet? I got mine yesterday and I was really excited to hear from our son. It's great to have a place to chat with other moms about what we're going through right now!
Hi Andrewsmom and the rest of the mom's, Yes I have received a postcard and a letter! It was wonderful!
Hi Vicent'sMom and all the other moms, did you get the form letter with the PIR date yet? We got ours on Friday and have started making plans. We booked our hotel room and will book our flight once we are certain if our daughter is going too. I know it's 6 weeks away, but I am very anxious for the PIR!
Yes I did...last Wednesday. I've started looking, but I haven't formalized anything yet...where did you decide to stay?
We will be staying at the Springhill Suites - Marriott. My husband got a discounted rate since he mentioned it was for the Navy BootCamp Graduation. We are both very excited. Now we need to book our flight.
Hi all moms - We booked hotel but no air just yet. We have a member of ours that is not sure if going are not, so waiting on the final decision there.

Anyone know when we might expect that next phone call home? I carry my cell phone around and have a slight panic attack if it gets out of my sight for even a few minutes. My coworkers are teasing me....saying I'm like a school girl waiting on a date to go to prom!
So glad to hear that! Looks like it's been a quiet last few days for all of us, I think it's the numbness setting in now that we've gotten some sort of communications and our 'kids in a box' :) Have you started planning your trip yet? I'm knee deep in reading up on hotels and flights before I make a decision...
