My son went to GL on 8/19. Just recieved my box today and patiently waiting for letters. This has been the most difficult time in my life ...hands down. I look forward to chatting with other moms with children in this div.
My son (only child) left on 8/18. I know... this has been very hard for me, too. I totally support and encouraged this... but we are empty-nesters now and hubby and I feel sad.

But I am so glad to finally find another mom who has a recruit with mine. Yay! Nice to "meet" you!
I friend requested you.
There's 3 of us now... Dillon's Mom... where are you?
The running joke in our house is when my hubby and son sing to me, "I'm a big boy, now" ... because I always try to do things for them. Hubby began to insist that I let our boy do things on his own... hhmmm... good plan but not easy for this mom to let go! ;)

I had to write and ask my recruit to add 2 people... and I asked him to let me know when it was done. I guess it's all part of the growing up process... but I don't have to like it! ;)

I haven't decided where to stay yet. I guess I better look into it!
Hi all just joined the site today and trying to catch up on the discussions. My son flew out on 8/18 from Portland, Oregon. Got my box last Tuesday and letter on Saturday. Made me cry all day, but was really good to read those few lines...He has been out on his own for awhile and about this time last year went to New Zealand for 3 months backpacking. Think I would be used to his being away...this is different and certainly helps to know that I'm not alone. Look forward to chatting with you all.
Welcome, Sheilaq! I know... I constantly reread those 3 lines because that's all we've got so far! I want more!! ;)

My son just graduated HS and is barely 18. This is the first time he's been so far away without family. I think that no matter how old are kids get - we still worry and miss them!

HUGS!!!
My boy is 26, but am so glad that he has finally landed on something! He is a quiet guy, but said he was getting along with the guys pretty well and the food was good...makes me happy. I mentioned in one of my letters that I had joined this site...I can just see him roll his eyes. Waiting on that first letter home or postcard...I sent some pre-stamped, pre-addressed to hopefully tip the odds in my favor. :)
I've been on this site since before my boy left... he knows me well and does the same thing!

I hope we hear some news soon!
Don't forget about me, there are 5 of us, I've been around but been hanging out on the 10/15 PIR group. There has to be a lot of other Moms out there in our division.
Hi...Hope others in our division will join, 10/15 PIR group is such a busy site! So much to read through, but lots of good info. I feel connected with him when I read all the replys and comments...sorry a little weepy today. It's been two weeks today since I dropped him at the hotel...
Sheilaq... me, too... both weepy and 2 weeks since drop off. Its seems like a lot longer than 2 weeks, though, huh?

BIG HUGS to all my 343 buddies! :)
GOOD MORNING SHIP 12 DIVISION 343. Just like all of you, I've had many of teary days for some reason on the up swing today. I've done the whole thing....cry when someone drives by in a car like Drews, cried because there was no stinky pile of laudry to pick up, cried because I cooked to much food at dinner, cried at Staples because I saw his friends getting school supplies. YUP, totally get it. I've cried to the point, I can't wear my contacts any more, blew out two pairs with so much boo hooing. So my dear Friends if Ship 12 Division 343, my thoughts are with each of you today that today it be a bit less teary and a little more cheery (I'm such a poet) as we are one day closer to Graduation. HUG TO YOU ALL!!!!! WE"LL GET THRU THIS TOGETHER!!
