thanks for reminding me, i totally forgot about the facebook page, i checked it out and seriously held the computer close so i could try to see if my husband was somewhere there, no luck.
I looked so hard.....no luck for me either! I'm thinking it might be a little early for them so maybe future pics will give us more luck!
So excited!!! Got home late, went to the mailbox and there it was! My SECOND, REAL letter! Seems that life is getting a little rougher on Ship 6. More talk this time of PT and gettting in trouble for small infractions that are costing the team more PT time. However, he also writes of what an honor it is to be in Div 948 and on Ship 6. I will tell you, my son described how "amazing" it felt to put on his first "real" uniform for the first time. I cried when I read that part and my heart soared with pride!

Anyone else out there get a letter? What are your SRs saying? Share!!!
i got a letter from my Sailor!!!! i can't tell you how happy i am!!! it's a long letter, he breaks down the days from day one still this past sunday. well, off to write him another letter, our anniversary if coming up, do you think sending a anniversary card would be a good idea? i dont know if the officers would tease him and make him do push-ups. what do you guys think?
I have heard other moms and such say no musical cards. Those seem to attract attention. In any event, I would go low-key for the outside of the card and put all the good stuff on the inside where only he can see it!
Anxious to get another letter from our son! I realize they are not given a lot of time to write though. Hopefully he has received the letters I've written. We are very anxious for the PIR. Does anyone know when they get to call home? We got the call when he got there and he said it would be 3 weeks. So would that be next week? Just wondering.
Hi andrewsmom -
My son, in his second letter, specifically answered some of the questions I had asked him in my letters, so the mail we are sending seems to be finding them!
Hi ksmom, We haven't received a letter lately so I'm hoping he writes soon. Glad to hear the mail is getting to them though! Thank you for your response.
Hi ladies, it's me. Need to share with you: yesterday, I got my 2nd letter from Davon. I was so excited, then heartbroken - he's got bronchitis, but it sounds like he's just toughin' it out - does anyone know if they give them even OTC meds?? Then, he tells me he hasn't gotten any letters yet, and wrote this :(, which broke my heart - I cried for an hour. I've already sent him 5 letters, not including the 2 from this week. Then, I found this on the US Navy Recruit Training Command page on FB: "Once a recruit arrives onboard their ship (barracks), they will begin receiving their mail, usually around week 2-3. Please don’t be alarmed if your recruit writes home asking why they haven’t received any mail when you’ve been mailing them consistently since you received their address. Because the recruits move around in their first couple of weeks at boot camp, it takes a couple of weeks for the mail to catch up to them. Don’t be alarmed; they will get their mail!" So ladies, be prepared to get exactly what I got, and know they should be getting it soon :)
Hi Ursula! I've been wondering about you. Hang in there......Just think how excited Davon will be when he gets all your letters almost at the same time! His mail load will be heavier than everyone's! It must be so hard to know that your son is ill and you cannot take care of him. However, the Navy will take good care of him. He will receive any medical care he needs. I already asked the recruiter this question knowing that Vinny was going to be gone during the bulk of flu season. So glad you got your second letter. Your letters will catch up up to your son. Please try not to worry all weekend. Remember, I'm a former military wife. Doesn't matter the branch, they take care of their own. Wishing you the best!
I was so hoping for a phone call this weekend......so far........nothing....... :(
No phone call here either.....hopefully soon though; hang in there:)
