OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Jane Ferguson Tavernier(Florida Keys) Fl. Our women's group at our local Moose will be making a large box with donations
from the list we got from this site. Where can we send it to. My email fergusonjanie@bellsouth.net
Oh Miss Jane you may send it direct to the deployed group of the month. We dont have things sent to us ---we go direct to the kiddos (cheaper that way even) vs sending to us then we send to them
we say its right from you to them

UNLESS you want to go to a packing party and bring all the items and then , soon we will be paying the shipping of the packing parties :)
we are pretty free here what works best for you , works best for us and the deployed kiddos

Angie, representing all our lovely Navy Moms on the drier EASTERN side of WA STATE! Our sisters, the Greater Seattle/Puget Sound area Moms ROCK though! :-)

Dana, at the risk of being a party pooper here, I do have to voice one small concern about this thread... and that is that we need to make sure that we always protect the safety of our mamas/loved ones! We wouldn't want them or us to give out TMI about who and where they are, ESPECIALLY if, like me, they happen to have a Spec Ops Sailor.

Our newbies might not realize this and inadvertently give out a last name or be too specific when listing their city of residence as you have requested above. :-) I worry about Moms like janie in FL posting her full name, plus she probably should have given her e-mail to Molly in a PM, just to err on the safe side. Just thought I'd mention it, I want to take care of and watch out for of all our big hearted Moms and supporters on N4Ms! Hope you don't mind me pointing this out. :)

Of course, our Ms. Molly can't hide now, her last name is on everything everywhere now and we know what beautiful area of the country she's from! :) The days of being just another anonymous Mom of two Sailors has long passed! :D
Thank you Angie. I have updated the discussion to state leave first name, city and state. Any other information they wish to provide should be send PM. Hopefully this will be seen by all (new & old). By the way the thread will be deleted in a couple of weeks.
Gotcha Dana, thanks! :) Our first Admin used to call me one of her onsite OPSEC bulldogs. LOL Just can't help myself sometimes! Can't be too careful with the safety of our Military and their loved ones these days. It's warm and wonderful in this room, but scarier "out there" and as we all know, anything we post here is accessible info to anyone on the worldwide web. Keep up the great work you are doing! =)
Angie, I have a really stupid question ... I know PM stands for personal message, but how do you send one?? Just very curious since I've seen it a number of times in discussions or comments.
Just click on the persons face/picture. This will send you to their page. Then you click on send a message which is directly below their profile picture.
