Got another letter today Tyler sounds upbeat he said he got his dog tags and they are "cool" he also said his bunkmates are real nice guys. One of the guys last name begins with a C and ends with an N. Anyone out there who knows who this might be? Would be pretty neat to be talking to his Mom. He is still as of 9-5 -10 PFC so that is good. He had a problem with his 1.5 mile just a little bit so he needs to work on that, also said that he smiled and was then made to do an 8 count for an hour straight. Does anyone know what that means?
Hey tylersmom! Thanks for sharing! I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they are 8 counts of push ups and sit ups. At least he sounded upbeat! Sounds like they are all winding in for the home stretch. If they got their dog tags, they've hit the half way point! I would assume this week would be the fire arms training, one of the things my SR was excited to do. My husband collects antique guns, and rare weapons as a hobby. The two of them enjoyed that. Especially when they would go to the range.
No letter from my SR yet, but I expect one tomorrow or Saturday, as that seems to be 'my day' to get mail. I'll let you know if I hear of anything else our SR's are up to...
now for that phone call....... LOL
our boys are calling I missed the call Tyler called at 6:01 and I had just plugged my phone in and walked out of the room and missed it!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not believe it I am devastated. He left a voicemail aid he was only allotted 1 minute to make a call. What is up with that?????
I got two letters today!! I am so happy because my SR actually told me he was depressed in his first letter but in these two letters he sounds soooo much better. Still homesick but doing lots better. Has three friends and two of them are going to the same A-school. He said he got his dog-tags. He said that one thing is bad about the div is that is the last one for the grad group so they have only one shot at things or the are ASMOD which means the grad will be delayed.

Danny just called while I was typing this!!!!! He said he was only suppose to be 1 minute but it ended up being almost 10 minutes which was great. He sounded sad. He misses home a lot. I mentioned the name of some of the boys here but he said he only knows people by their last names. He asked me to bring his contacts to PIR but not much else.

It was so nice to talk to him, I miss him so much.
I was wondering our we allowed to give last names?
I don't know but my sons last name starts with G and ends with an n
Don't feel bad I missed my sons call too. I"m never leaving the house again. I missed my son's call by one minute also. I just pulled up in the driveway my husband said and he just hung up the phone. He only got to talk to my son for two minutes. He said my son seemed fine , passed his written test, but didn't pass his push ups. He needs to do 60 and only could do 38. He said not to worry he will get there. Said he has made alot of new friends. Sounded to my husband like their group is in trouble right know, I guess there not doing something right. My husband also said everyone there is doing well otherwise.
Tyler's Mom and Catcow: so sorry you missed your calls. :(

Oh yeah, my son said they were suppose to do IT tonight because they had 5 demerits. He said 1 is bad and they have 5. He also said because they were the last division (push division) that they only have one chance to to do things, if they don't pass battlestations they will have to do them the next Monday and then graduate a week later.
So sorry to those that missed the calls last night, and a thank you to those that are sharing info. Mine was skimpy on the info, but we only had 2 minutes. He sounded upbeat, and didn't give me any 'bad news', so I'm glad to know they need a little extra prayer right now. Only one chance to pass.... that sounds rough. On a happy note; there are only a few that ever failed BS21; so I'm going to try to keep a positive note. I also know they really mess with their heads threatening to delay PIR... and yes, sometimes it does happen. But for the most part, most PIRS will only be delayed due to medical or failing tests. Since the RDC's have the attitude failure is not an option, they really push the SR's to pass the tests. Unfortunately, they can't have any control over the medical reason. Lets pray they stay healthy, and really focus on their studies! Thanks again for sharing!
Oh... and no last names, but we can personal message each other with that info, not put it on a blog site...
Glad to see the phone calls coming in! Not so glad to hear that our Div is getting demerit points and having to IT though. Wonder what that was for? And still no call from my boy - not sure if I missed it or he didn't call... well, if nothing else I'll find out at PIR - right? :-)

cameowlot, thanks for the no last names - I am huge on that, and hope everyone realizes that we are now responsible for keeping each others kids and families safe by practicing OPSEC. Also - thank you for the reminder that just because the RDC's are threatening not PIR-ing on time, doesn't necessarily mean it will happen.

catcow - made me laugh! Never leaving the house again! So sorry you missed your call, but glad you've still got a sense of humor!

tylersmom - I hope you get mail today to cheer you up!!!

Lets just keep our boys in our prayers!
I noticed that some have 'watch duty' and make their calls at another time. Maybe tonight? I hope so!
I got a letter dated last weekend (sept 3-5) today from my SR. He filled out 2 questionnaires, had me rolling on the floor laughing with his comments. Said the div is doing very good, still making some mistakes, but they now feel like a family. I think the demerits are used to shape up where they are weak, for ex, if they mess up marching, they get a demerit, and have to do extra marching time. So in a way, it may sound really bad... but it actually helps them fix where they are weak. (Sucks to be the one going through it though I'm sure). My SR said he got in trouble one time, for tying a knot when he wasn't told to. Had to do 50 8 counts. He said they are kept very busy! Also had me laughing, said he was glad he didn't arrive at GL with long hair. Said those that do, get to be the ones that 'clean the head' (bathroom). Also, mentioned only 2 mins to use the bathroom during the day.... "surprised there aren't a bunch of SR's running around here with prolapsed colons' but they can get as much time after taps... At least he has his sense of humor yet!
It is great to get more information as each of our SR are limited on how much time they have to write/call. I sent a ps to my son (because he apologized for not writing more) and told him it fine, I rather he sleep than write me. By the way, I am glad my son went to BC with a military haircut!
