Hi Ladies and Gents (too) !

Just moving this discussion over from the Leaving from Boot Camp in August Page since it makes more sense to have it hear now!

Please join so we can all stay together and support each other through this!  Has anyone in this group received a letter or phone call yet?

I'm still waiting on that letter. Being in Florida might be making the difference right now. but I'm trying to be patient-not doing a very good job :)

My son did mention that he was pretty sure he was a grad and go. He will be heading to Groten, Connecticut for sub school. I told him not to fret that we were going to spend what time we could with him and then take it from here. He said "bring my cell" as he said once he leaves there he can have it!! Anyway, it was a great way to start the day!!!!!!! He also got to talk to his grandma and a cousin! So I am sure he is doing much better too!!!
Our granddaughter is also in div 333. I had read it wrong and thought that she was in 331. She is also to be a grad n go, going to Mississippi. We have only gotten bits and pieces, and just a short note so far. She just has too many people to write to! Her mother missed the only phone call that has come in! There will be quite a few going to her graduation, lots of family. So hope there is room at the back of the room for us to watch! Anyone else staying at the Ramada? I have heard lots of bad stories, and some good, about this motel.
Hi Joj,

Welcome to the group. I hear that everyone get into graduation so I wouldn't worry to much. There is a discussion on here about where everyone is staying, so you can check there to see where most are staying. We are staying at the Residence Inn-Waukegan.
Hello all my son is in this division he is their petty officer prayer leader. I got a call from him yesterday and he was telling me how they are all doing well they are having fun blowing up and running over other divisions. Can't wait till graduation never thought it be this hard him being away. I have gotten about 5 letters so far but he says they really don't have much time to write. Was blessed with two calls home this week one cause he sent money home to put in his other bank for safety.
Our son's A school is in Florida. He said that anybody who has an A school outside of Great Lakes leaves town on Saturday instead of Sunday. Do any of you know if this is true?
Hi Chibeth

I don't believe that it is mandatory that they leave on Saturday if they are flying out to another state. The Navy just deems some of them grad n go and some not. I think if they are grad n go, most of them know that by now, so your SR should be able to tell you soon in a letter or phone call. My son will be staying in GL and could possibly even be a grad n go, which just means he will move from boot-camp side of the base to the A school side of the base before we get our time with him, so you never know! Hope this helps!
Chibertb,
As far as I know my son told me they have the weekend off. We changed our reservations to be with him. My son is attending A school in Pensacola. Hope this helps but they should know more before we all get up there.
Hi Marymom...

Welcome to the group! It's so good to hear that the division is doing better! My son called yesterday and said that things were definitely better for them. I think a lot of the BEAT training shaped them up. LOL. Saturday was my second all from him, almost an hour long, what a blessing, and I have received 7 letters to date. Said yesterday that I had 2-3 more on the way! Amazing since he has never written a letter before in his life! I Told him to keep them coming, they really give me strength. He said the same back to me, tonight I will write letter #39 to him! October 8th just cannot get here fast enough!
Marymom...

I just noticed that you are in Daytona Beach! We are in Deltona, we are so close to each other!
Yeah I noticed we are close. Seems a lot of the boys from fl are hitting Pensacola. My son said they don't have much time to write but he tries. I cant imagine how much he has grown in this but his voice showed him s much older. . My son said that he has the weekend off so we changed our tickets to spend more time with him. I hear hell week is coming up for them which should be interesting. My son is the religious petty officer of their division. I can not wait till the 8th i told my son he gave me the best bday present to see him in uniform graduating boot camp. I know the letters mean the world to them. I cant wait till we can send packages I already started building them up for him. If you have a facebook look me up on it ( facebook.com/Mary.Meadows.owner.ProjectChildSmiles.Inc) My nephew also is up in boot camp there to he graduates a week after my son.
Thanks for the info.
How's everyone doing this week?

Nothing for me since the phone call on Saturday even though he said he wrote to us and his friend. I haven't heard if his friend got the letter or not. This week is seem to be going kind of fast -- can't believe it is Wed already and we are almost to the "3 weeks to go" mark. We are trying to get our plans finalized but don't want to do that til we hear for sure about the "pesky" grad and go rumor.

Have a good rest of the week and hope some of you are getting more letters!
