OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I did ask my son about battlestation. He said it was suppose to be the Monday before graduation, but for some reason (I can't remember what he said) they have changed it to Tuesday October the 12th.. Make sure you verify that with your son

He did sound good, and yes he likes the food. LOL
Ursula....I couldn't ask my son about your son....I didn't know his last name. I did tell him how sweet you were : )
He also gave me the name of the other 5 or 6 SR's from his division that will be going to Nuclear School with him.
I'm trying to think of everything he said, but I seem to have a brain freeze right now. LOL -

Debbie, you are so kind! What a nice thing to say!
Davon sounded good...he had that funny voice we get when we have a cold, but he said feels much better. He said so far, so good - not like he expected. He's already a calm and collected kinda guy, and doesn't get too intense over things, which is why I really think he's having a good time; the yelling, the rules and structure don't get to him at all. He knows these guys are on 'his' side when it's all said and done, so it's a piece o' cake (his words)!
Overall, he also had a lot of the same things to say that we've heard from our kids today. The only one other thing that comes to mind is Grad-n-Go: right now he's thinking he's not, because he's learned that the one's going to school in Pennsicola aren't starting class right away, but he'll confirm that form me through letter once he learns more. And he was very clear, that they will be wearing their blues, which in his opinion are 'BOSS'; that's 19-year old slang for awesomeness! So he's pleased about that too.
He also mentioned, it seems that there's not as much PT as some of the other groups - I didn't get into that with him, but, I don't really get why, and he doesn't either - yet :) He went on to say, he doesn't have a 'job' while in boot camp, which is a-ok with him, reason being, he said these guys get into a lot more trouble/confrontation with the officers than the one's without a job. He's so funny, he said he'll worry about being in charge later, not right now!! Way to go son!! -

Oh Ursula - So glad you son might NOT be a grad and go. That means more time for you and your family to spend with him. I did ask my son about yours and he said, "Mom, we all go by LAST names. Too many of us to learn first names and since we aren't allowed to use them, it's sorta pointless" He said he would ask around and see if he could find the guy with a mom named Ursula. He will let me know if they know one another!

Just wondering if anyone else in Ship 6/Div 948 did not receive a call from their recruit last night? I know there are many people on each ship/division so maybe it will happen for me tonight???? Thanks.

I sure hope you get your call today andrewsmom. I know some of the "Veteran Moms" say that sometimes the SR's may be pulling guard watch at the time of the phone calls. I'm not sure how they make up the time to the SR that misses the call home. I sure do hope they allow him his time soon. I am so sorry you didn't get a call. I hope your phone rings very soon. I got a call from Kama yesterday! It was only five minutes. She has other family members she needed to call. It was just an awful experience for me. I was driving my other daughter home from Tae Kwon Do when my phone rang. Caller ID read pay phone.
I was soo! happy to hear her voice. I told her I wanted to pull over so I could talk to her. I put my blinker on and checked my mirror and got over. Then this man on a motorcycle starts riding beside me and screaming every profanity you can image. I tried to pull into a gas station and he followed me, so I pulled back out and he keeps getting in front f me and stopping and getting beside me and cussing. My daughter in the car is crying because she is scared. All of this is going on and I am trying to listen to Kama and talk to her.
She did say that she had two wisdom teeth pulled. She said she has one friend. She did not specifically state but I got the impression there is a lot of drama and she does not do drama. I did not get her friends name. She asked if I had received any of her letters and asked about her bank account. She said she has cried a lot! I am really upset about that manic motorcycle man and I have no idea when I she will be able to call again. Andrew’s mom! I hope you get to hear your son’s voice soon!

It will come! My son said that there were certain SRs that didn't get to make phone calls yesterday. They had duty of some sort or another. So it wasn't the full division. Those who missed will get an opportunity later.
I asked my son when I could expect another call and he said, "Probably only one more call before graduation!"

Cyndi, I am so so sorry this happened to you. I can only imagine, and there's A LOT of hate and road rage out there. I'm just glad you and your daughter are alright.
I can confirm for you on the drama - my son, who's also drama-free, seriously, says there are a lot of guys that are just not cool. Davon's the type, since like toddler age, all the way through high school, could be put with a group of kids, say, summer camps, bowling/basketball team, drama team, etc. - and would walk away with an overflowing handful of friends. So for him to say this for the guys at boot camp is pretty right-on for my son to say too. But like i've always told my kids - it's everywhere: school, work, the stores, heck, even church at times! But he knows, just do what's in your control, be right and make good choices - then it's all good.
I'll say this, we've all come this far together, and it'll most likely be the same amount of time until you hear from her again, but, we gotta hang in there. I feel like it's just gonna fly - WE'RE HALFWAY THERE GIRLS!! :D -

Recruits are given phone calls from time to time throughout training as a reward for outstanding performance. There is no set schedule and no way to know when or if these calls will come. The best thing to do is go about your normal daily routine and keep writing to your recruit.
Recruits are also given a phone call when they fail a training requirement, or become injured or ill, which could delay their graduation. Unless you receive this phone call (not in a letter, but in a phone call), you can assume that everything is fine and going as planned.
The final call you’ll receive from your recruit is the call letting you know they are no longer a recruit, but a Sailor in the World’s Finest Navy! This call comes their final week of training the morning after they pass Battle Stations-21. This is an emotional call for the Sailors and their families. If you’d like a heads-up on when the call may come (so you can make sure not to miss the moment), please ask your recruit when they will run Battle Stations-21. Unfortunately, again, neither RTC nor your local recruiter will be able to give you this information, only your recruit.

Hi Moms.....I am not going to be able to make PIR : (, I was so worried about no one being there for my son on that very important day. Well....My wonderful sister and her husband are going to fly in from Arizona and be there for the PIR and spend the weekend with him. I am having her sign onto this site so that she can get to know you all before PIR. They are going to be my eyes and ears. I want them to meet you so that they can get pictures of all you for me. I feel so close to you all after going through this experience together. Be watching for her....she is going to be "Vincent'sAunt". (go figure)
