So sorry you can't attend. You will be there "in spirit" with all of us. I'll do my best to get pics but if you have "friended" the naval station on facebook, you know that can be a bit of a challenge with the room and the floor being full of excited sailors and families.

Try to plan now to do something special for yourself on that morning. I know it will be tempting to sit around in your jammies and eat ice cream! Maybe grab your cell phone and a friend and do something fun.

Thinking of you.......
Debbie, I am so sorry that you can't go to PIR, I will try to get lots of pictures of 948!!
Debbie, I am so sorry you can't make it :(
I was really looking forward to meeting you in person, but it's okay, I think we're off to a great start in becoming friends. I also will do my very best to have a pic taken of Vincent & Davon, as well as share my personal album with you soon after we return. If you already know it's a definite no, then please excuse me for saying 'anything can change'. Until then, stay glued to our hips - we want you here!
Debbie, Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it. I am sure everyone will post pictures of the event. I'll try to post pictures too (with help).
This was extremely helpful. Thank you for posting. We still have not heard from our son, but are staying positive that he's doing fine. I really have found comfort in reading other mom's posts describing their phone calls. Have a good night everyone:)
Yes! I sure had, just days after Davon left...it really helped to be right there with them... :)
Has anyone been able to confirm with their kids that battlestation will be on:
Tuesday October the 12th.?? Does anyone know for sure?
I asked Davon, he didn't know. He sounded to me like they just hadn't discussed this with them yet; that was one of my important questions to him on my 'call'...
Another question everyone. In my son's last letter, he asked me to NOT send newspaper clippings. I have sent him some local sports news about his favorite teams from the local paper. Since it was a paper-product, I thought okay? I hope I didn't Vinny or his mates in trouble. So....no newspaper articles? Anyone else heard this?
...me again...in the letter I got from Davon just this last Wednesday, he asked for clips of current events - to keep in the know of what's happening out there (those are his words). I'm VERY doubtful my son would request this of me or his dad if they had gottten into trouble. But, he was very adament in the first few letters to only send letters and pics - NO FOOD. From what I gather, that did happen, and he said they all got in trouble somehow...I could tell that was a big no-no...and he actually capitalized 'no food' in his letters too! :)
YAY! We got our phone call! Our son sounds really good. It was great to hear his voice. Luckily we were all home to talk to him. Like all of the SRs he enjoys the mail and said keep the letters coming.
