We are reaching the 30 day mark until our recruits are honored with the title "Sailor".  They are making huge sacrifices and changes to become a proud Navy Sailor,  Many of us made commitments early on to making some great fitness and weight changes in our lives as well.

We have a "push" division in our PIR.  They had to push to make it happen!  They have to fit boot camp in, and all of it's requirements to make it to PIR one week earlier.  Can you imagine - do NAVY boot camp, do your best, and do it in 1 less week.

We also have a pre-buds group,  These are our recruits that are on their way to becoming Navy Seals!  The greatest soldiers on the planet!  They have additional things being asked of them too, and they are committed to doing it all!

Our 900 division is also required to do all that is required - plus learn the drills, and their roles to perform at 3 graduations.  Our 900 division is carrying the state flags at the 9/24. 10/01, and our very own 10/08 graduation.

Now - in ALL our divisions think of the 25 recruits that also have leadership responsibilities in addition to all that they are doing.

My point is this - these fine young recruits have more on their plates than we can possibly imagine, regardless of what div in they are in.  They are all doing it while being homesick and having a huge culture shock.  They exemplify HONOR - COURAGE and COMMITMENT!

We can do this!  We can PUSH for the next 30 days and make some incredible changes in our lives as well.

Honnalora~I'm so glad to see this discussion. I'm about 50 lbs over weight, and my youngest son is 9 yrs old, time to stop blaming my weight on baby weight and do something about it. I have been saying I'm going to be skinny by the Summer, then Summer comes and goes, and I say I'm going to be skinny by Christmas, and then Christmas comes and goes. This just may be the support and motivation I need to make me accountable. Thanks!!! <3
Absolutley right! We all need to be held accountable! It sure helps with the motivation department! No more excuses - for me either!!! My personal Goals: 1) quit smoking 2) get in a work out every day to feel better and get back into shape 3) When I get in a slump, to get busy! doing something instead of sitting & doing nothing. I know I'll have the support and cheerleading of some new great friends - Thank you all!
Way to go ShipMom10!!

Each year on my birthday, I set a goal for the year. This year's is Body and Soul Boot Camp. I set goals in four areas of my life: physical fitness, mental fitness, healthy eating, and faith. For my physical fitness, I am alternating running, weights, hula hoop/jumprope/medicine ball circuit training, walking and biking. For my mental fitness, I do yoga 2-3 times a week. Healthy eating involves trips to the local farmers market for fresh fruit, vegetables, organic meats and breads, etc., and minimal coffee and soda. And the faith goal includes more frequent attendance at church, daily devotions and evening prayer. So far, I am doing well on the healthy eating and faith, but still have too many excuses for the physical and mental fitness. I am so glad we have this support system, I am going to try to push harder this week!!
Just checking in... We are 4 weeks away from our Meet and Greet - tomorrow makes 4 weeks until Graduation. That's 4 weeks to keep to our commitments, eat right, move more, and get to feeling and looking great! We can do this! We are Navystrong!

I have been watching the diet and getting some great exercise in each day.

Suzinmia - Way to GO! Congrats on the 5 pounds and glad to hear you are feeling good.
Checkin' in ladies - how are we doing? I worked by keister off yesterday - it felt awesome! Well, actually it kinda hurt, but you know what I mean! Not seeing any realy body changes yet, but feeling better, and that in itself is worth it!
Not doin' so hot w/ the not smoking - that one is a bugger!!

Keep on truckin' everyone! We can do this - we can make a difference in our own lives one day at a time and take care of ourselves so we're in the best shape we can be to do all things and be all the things we need to be!
ship10mom- I have fought the smoking battle many times and here is what worked for me. Cold Turkey. No interaction with anyone who smokes for at least three weeks. Figure out when it is you really like to smoke (Bon fires and a beer, sigh) and remind yourself before you head into that situation why you can't smoke. Chew gum!!
Warn your family that you will be short tempered for a few days. They will support you. You already like to work out-you will be amazed how fast you will feel a change for the better. Go to bed visualizing healing lungs! Yes, It is hard but you can do it! Good luck
Cut my hair off too! Did boot camp at the gym for 8 weeks at 5:30am and round 2 starts Oct. 5th. Thanks for the push .
