Congrats! That has to feel good! What a relief for you!
Hi, to all the Mom's of recruits Ship 2,division 948. My son finally was able to call yesterday. I was overwhelmed, I have been waiting and carrying my cell phone everywhere just in case he called. He told me that the moms were communicating with each other so I have been trying to find you. I think I am in the right place?...
hi acpeacock! welcome...! you're in the right place for ship 2, div 948, and so glad you got his call! seems just a little strange though, because most of us here were pacing the floors for the 1st call, and it seems they were hittin' us like a ton of bricks last Tuesday (if you haven't already, go back a little and see all of our comments, and how one came in right after the other :) It's awesome news, but I wonder myself why the delay. It's nice to meet you, I'm ursula, son of Davon. Right now, I'm in a sort of shock that we can now say they're more than halfway there!! And how are you holdin' up? :)
Hi acpeacock, my son called this past Sunday. It was great to hear his voice. Welcome to our group. This is a great place to share your feelings, questions, etc. and get support in return. It's getting close! I'm Sue, Andrew's mom.
Thanks for your response. Jon's call was delayed because he was on watch on Tuesday. Apparently it was a last minute duty. He sounds got but he hurt his foot over the weekend and is hopeful that it will feel better by Wednesday, as he has his PFA.
By the way, I'm Anne the mom of Jon. Five weeks completed tomorrow!! It has been a long 5 weeks in some respects and some it has gone quickly... not so sure Jon would agree with me on that observation. The longest time was waiting for the 1st letter (at least two weeks) and then it was short. But the last few letters have helped fill in the gaps and he is doing ok. But the telephone call was the best since leaving him on the 18th of August. I am hanging in anxious for the PIR on the 15th of October.
Hi Moms!!!! I hope everyone is doing great. I was wondering how many of you are planning to stay up most of the night on Battlestation 21? I was thinking that we could talk on the group PIR 10/15/10. That way the response is much quicker when we respond to each other. This site takes several minutes before you can read a reply. (just a suggestion)

Hello and welcome acpeacock!!!! I'm so glad you finally got your phone call. I know that was a wonderful thing hearing your baby on the phone. It really confirms that they are doing ok when you hear their voice.

Has anyone else heard for sure what the date would be for battlestation?
I received a letter from our son, but no news yet on Battlestations or pictures being done. Has anyone heard if they took the pictures? Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Three weeks, wow!
I have specifically asked about Battlestations but did not get an anwser this week. I did get a short letter. She said not alot exciting this week, mostly classes. She said next week is "Hell Week" and she would have more news next week. She also said she only gets seven mins. to eat as much as she can and she is basically hungry all the time. Has any one else heard this? She is already too skinny, and she eats a lot. I just hate to think of her being hungry. No mention of pics.
I am still not sure exactly what day Battlestation is.......For some reason my son does not answer that very specific question in his letters. However, I did get another letter yesterday. It was a letter written over the course of 4 days and GOOD NEWS....some of our men have been connecting and they know that we are connected! My son writes that Davon, Vincent, Paulo, and Andrew are all aware that we are writing and sharing news on this forum. As far as the girls, he does admit that it's harder to get to know them as they don't spend as down time with the girls. My son also said that his bunkmate is Aaron. It sounds as though they are doing well. An entry from 16 September said that they are still getting in trouble for small "hits" during inspections. Something about a roll of toilet paper being off by one inch. I'm not sure what that means but I got a complete kick out of the fact that the toilet paper is inspected! They are also getting more details about when and where their next schools are so they will have all the details before graduation. My son was excited to learn that the next school operates much like a dorm. 4 people, two on each side of a bathroom. He is looking foward to having his laptop and phone back after boot camp. I found this interesting......the battlestations info is not shared with them. They have no idea what to expect. They are not told if it is a real ship etc. Very hush hush. I find that interesting because of course, I have watched the CNN video about it on You Tube and could answer some of his questions but hey, if the Navy isn't telling him, I won't either! An entry made on the 19th said they had a lot of classroom work and studying coming up. Lots of testing. Seems they are coming together as a team but they are homesick. My son said a lot of them are wondering how they are going to "keep it together" when they get to see their families again for the first time. They miss familiar faces and of course, home. He said all the guys are feeling that way but they talked about it in a joking way so as not to bring up too many real emotions. My son again said that our letters and pics get them through! Keep them coming! Just thought I would share with all of you since your kids/hubbies were all talked about so much in this last letter. I think it gives our men comfort to know we are all "together" on the outside!
Hi all, Well at least we know that our division is not a grad and go division. My son received his departing date, and it was a few days after graduation.
=) you mentioned my husbands name =) i usually get my letters on thursday so hopefully ill get one today and get an update too =) anyone know if they took their pictures yet? i asked my hubby when i got a call and they haven't taken the pictures yet. thank you for the update, the toilet paper thing cracked me up.
