Hi there, it's me Ursula, Davon's mom!!! Your post is awesome, sounds so, so close to my letter from Davon yesterday too...lot's more info on his job, placement, rank, etc. He's real upbeat and secure about the weapons inspection, but has knots in his stomach over being told 'we'll let you know' on his take of 2nd class swim - said he only has 10 days to get this done, but i'm certain by the time I hear from him again, something will have happened. He's just got the jitters to pass and do well, which I'm sure they all do at this stage. Not much else, but you nailed it on the head regarding the pics and letters...his whole last paragraph is about that, and just says it's the absolute 'BEST' thing right now. Which, gives me comfort, that last weekend I sent off almost 40 pics of his niece Natalie's 5th birthday party that was on the 4th; she turned 5 and is a pink, Barbie kinda girl! For those of us that hook up at PIR, you'll get to meet her - she, my daughter LaRae and Davon's dad, David will be there...OMG, CANNOT WAIT! I'm so darn excited! :D
Anne - Jon's mom - greetings to everyone - I am so glad to be able to read the news from ship 2 div 948; I am waiting to hear from Jon again... hopefully a letter will come soon ... but I feel connected through all of you and the news that you share from your recruits - thank-you. Three weeks from today!!! I can hardly wait - it has felt like a lifetime... just not being able to call him is the worst! Anyway brighter days ahead!! Have a great day everyone.
Hi KSmom!
I sure hope that was my Andrew that was mentioned in your son's ltr. I have told him so much about Vinny's mom and let him know we are keeping things going here on the homefront for them. I tell him all the time how much the moms of this division are trying to keep up will ALL the recruits and for him to pass that information around. I know reading all the post from all of you has really helped me through the emotional part of this. And although our recruits are probably shaking their heads and acting like "moms will be moms" I bet they love it!

Thank you so much for sharing your letter!
I read that one of the other ships are getting calls almost weekly. I have had one call can I expect another one soon?

Is anyone still there? I have not seen any new post since my last post.

I am getting excited. Kama's birthday is October 15th so I am combining a graduation and Birthday celebration.

I am going to need to buy stock in puffs plus tissues because I cry just reading some of these posts. I had to put back a card today besuse I could not read it without crying so I decided on a funny one.
Cyndi, oh girl, i'm still here! I've been trying to squeeze so much into my weekends before our trip - reorganizing Davon's room and game room for him (long overdo), then, doing a little shopping for our trip, mostly Natalie my 5-year old grandbaby. She's grown some since last winter, and has nothing for the season - until now! The last few weekends, I've put towards making sure she's got some warm things to wear. She also has asthma, so we cannot risk aggrivating her condition.

I've only gotten the one call from Davon, 9/14, but he's been awesome at making sure we have a letter every week, which i'm thrilled at; he's got a lot of people that miss him, and I know he has no time as it is.

OMG! I sure hope I get to meet Kama and wish her a happy birthday! Girl, you have a lot on your plate, multiple life events at one time, but what a birthday gift to you, much less her too!! WoW, amazing - the most perfect coincidence!

Speaking of taking stock in tissues - I have to agree...my guest bath trash can, the 2 I have in my master bath, and my cup holders in the car - yikes! Let's just say, i've never had to throw out my trash and empty my cup holders as much as I have since Davon left. I'm a mess even just sitting for dinner...Davon's not here to help eat (man, can he eat), and I don't know how to make less of anything yet, then, can't bring leftovers home from going out to eat (he'd eat that too, and dinner!), major empty nest - i'm only 43, all kids are gone, and this is hitting like a ton of bricks - I could never have predicted these feelings. It's like the Trace Adkins song, 'Then They Do' - listen to it if you don't know it, but get the box of tissues out - seriously :), hugs...
We have only received the "I got here" call and the call a couple weeks ago. I also am planning to bring a lot of tissues. I cried so hard when our son earned his Eagle Scout. I can only imagine how I'll be at PIR. It's coming soon:) Can't wait! Hope everyone is doing okay:)
It's so weird for me to cry so much at the drop of a hat. I can be fine one minute and a mess the next. If I hear a song or see something. Just the weekend, I was oranizing in the downstairs and ran up against Vinny's cap and gown from high school graduation. For some reason, all the other things of his that day, passed by me without too much emotion but that cap and gown brought me to my knees. All in one moment, that day, seems so recent and so far away. If you really want to have a good boo hoo session, try Trace Adkins, "You're Gonna Miss This." I literally have to flip stations. I can't do it! LOL! We have almost made it ladies! Just a few more weeks!
Hello all...hope you're doin alright...
Well, first, today was eventful. I made a special trip to the Yankee Candle store to get my candle for battlestation, and found a limited edition scent called Stars and Stripes. It's the most beautiful navy blue color, and is a nice, spice kind of scent, like a spice cake for the holidays kinda smell. And, it has a flying USA flag on the front - I was by myself, and just grinned from ear to ear. After that, came right home and straight to the mailbox - there it was! Another letter from Davon :D He's doin' good overall, but sick again, fever, etc. He said he's only had about 1 week of being well since he's been there, which I didn't know till now :( He's passed his tests, and had another one this past Tuesday. He also had to let me know how much he's slimmed down, which he did not need to do (6'3, 34 waist!)...said he's been eating light/healthy - whatever! That's not Davon, but i'll get the scoop on that when I see him :/ Said he is not grad-n-go, and is leaving for FLA on Tuesday after PIR; this is awesome news! Finally, something definate. Then, he commented on how great it was to hear about the 'halfway there' comment in my past letters, but the last few I've mailed, I decided to do something different. I write at the top of the letter what the countdown clock says on the PIR 10/15 page, then I tell him at the end, to figure out the time left when he's finished reading my letter...I figured it would be an awesome way for us to count down the days together, from my end to his :) Anyone else hearing anything new and interesting? Last of all, I had a package at my front door; I received my Limited Edition Naval Officer Nutcracker from Target.com :D !! A whole lotta happy goin' on...
Hi Everyone, I got a letter from Jon today! He hurt his foot a week ago Saturday with a stretched tendon and he was on Light and Limited Duty for two days last week, he was suppose to stay off it for a week but he decided two days was enough, he didn't want to miss everything and get set back. He managed to pass all of his tests. Still no word if he is a grad n go... I think he is headed to Pensacola FL so maybe he leaving at the same time as Davon. Jon said the pictures were taken on the 27th of September. We have made our plans for graduation and can't wait for the day to arrive! today marks 6 weeks -- 2 and a half to go!!
Hello Ladies!
I just got home, had open house at school but I am happy to say that I have a letter from Kama. She sounds good. No mention of the battlestations but she sent the low down on her week.
21 Sep; They did the Marline Spike she said it was fun and it helped her to understand weird terms from the book.
22 Sep; Took her 2nd physical test. 77 crunchs in 2 min, 60 pushups in 2 min and 1.5 miles in 14min 06 sec.
She got a 5.0 out of 5.0 on personl/uniform and a 5.0 out of 5.0 on her wepons inspection.
23 sept dentist and simulated gun range.
24 Sep. Shot the 9mm hand gun and the 12 gauge shot gun. She qualified for the marksman ribbon. She did not get sharp shooter. (only 3 people got it).
25 Sep. Drill team practice. They had her take out rising into the air on rifles for safty concerns, but she will be right in the middle of the drill team for graduation. She will be holding a rifle but is not sure I will be able to pick her out from the other people. She says I should bring some kind of recording device. She gets to stand up front withthe RD'C... and salute with a cutlass (sword) . I can not wait to see her. Only half a box of tissues tonight:-)
I hope all of you all got letters and your children are doing well.
I get to get up at 5am and start another day! ZZZ Good night.
`Cyndi
I got 2 questionaires and 1 letter from my daughter today. It was the best letter ever! For those who have someone in div 948, she said that September 23 was week 4-3 for them. She still hasn't heard anything about battlestations for their division yet. She passed her weapons, uniform and bunk inspections! She passed the second PFA with 51 push ups, 60 sit ups and her run was 14:00 even! She says she is feeling more confident about herself now. September 27th was their picture day. She talked about doing the live fire and she is a qualified marksman and that she gets a ribbon for graduation. She has never shot a gun before in her whole life...I am so very proud of her. She said she paid for her grad pictures and bought us navy shirts @ 15.00 each....I wonder if these are the divison t-shirts? She told me she was sorta looking forward to battlestations, and that she has started training on the Marlinspike. She said it was chaotic but fun, and that she learned how to moor a ship. Her division still doesn't have any flags...I think if they ever won one it would boost their morale by 100%. This letter from her sure boosted my morale but more than 100%. I just can't wait to see her!!

Ursula, hey that is awesome about the candle you found. I really need to find a store that carries Yankee Candles!! I am going to order the sailor nutcracker payday! LOL
I also got a letter today. No mention of when Battlestations will be. He talked about "hell" week and doing live fire. He got to spend his 19th birthday at boot camp and didn't get razzed too bad about it. He was glad we sent cards (I kept them simple, no music cards). It's so great to read how everyone else's children are doing. I really want to buy a blue candle. Going to the local fair in Deerfield NH today. Maybe I'll get a blue candle there. TWO WEEKS and PIR!!! Hope everyone is well. Have a nice weekend too!
