Hi, y'all! I'm new here, up early to get ready to take our son back to his college town where he signed up for Navy. He's got three years of college under his belt, but decided he wants to get out and actually work in the "real world" and make some $$ to pay off his loans, then finish a degree with Uncle Sam's help!  So, here we go.  It's a long way from our Southern home to Great Lakes, MI, but I am excited he is taking this step, while a little concerned that he will be able to be all"SIR, YES SIR!" since he loves to argue and debate :). Looking forward to meeting other moms!

My son also left on 9/21 to go to MEPS and then to boot camp. He is in fact at this moment sitting at the San Diego Airport USO waiting for his flight to leave. There is a total of 10 people flying to boot camp today from the San Diego area. I'm looking forward to knowing his ship and division so then we can know his graduation date and we can start our own forum. It will be nice to talk to people who are going through the same thing. My son hasn't been able to find a full time job since graduating from high school and wants to go to college. He decided joining the Navy made sense for a lot of reasons including making money and going to school and I supported his decision completely. Not much opportunity in California right now for young people. I just hope they graduate the weekend of 11/19 and not Thanksgiving weekend, but regardless I will be there.
SRM54...yes..will see you there for sure! I hope 11/19 as well..lets keep our fingers crossed. I miss mine bad. I feel better every day but..its been hard. I am sure both of ours will be fine. Have a great day.

Oh, I miss mine too. But it will be worth every minute to see the pride on his face at graduation.
Hey SRM54....my son went to BC too on 9/21..got his address today..he is in Ship 11, Div 002...the Recruiter gave it to me. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh life is good now!
NM2Loretta here is the link to your PIR group, just click on the http address http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir111910
Hey my husband is on Ship 11, Div 002 as well!! I wonder if they know each other! lol
Join the group Ship 11 Div 002 Ive just created it! http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ship11div002?xg_source=activity
No, I don't know yet. I'm sure they were on the plane together. Hopefully I will get the information about his ship and division soon.
This is so odd. My son left with five kids and all but mine are PIR'ing on 11/12 and mind is 11/19. Weird! The recruiter said the 11/12's got in a division that wasn't full and they took in a few of the boys..tis why they are a week earlier. My son went into a 'new' division therfore..his PIR is 11/19. Dang I wish he was 11/12 too..lol. Anyhow..good luck to all those waiting. I can tell you..the waiting was the worse part of all this. ;-)
I just noticed that you said you asked his/your recruiter. Are you planning to join the Navy too?
I just found out today my sons's ship and division and it is ship 9 division 005 too. I asked him in a letter about your boyfriend so maybe they do know each other. I think there graduation should be 11/19 (I hope) I will be really glad when we get to see them. Do you get to go to graduation?
Oh, that would be good if you could go. My daughter and I are planning to go (she's 24). I have found that it is a little bit cheaper to fly into Milwaukee. It's not that far from the base either. Are you going with your boyfriends parents? We are probably going to leave on 11/18 and fly home on 11/21
