For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

MY SON JUST LEFT FOR BOOT CAMP 2DAYS AGO
My son left for boot camp on Tuesday, when he got there he was able to call me at 10:07 pm, the phone call was so short I could not even ask how was the flight! He was able to tell me that he got there safely, that I would receive a box with his personal things and that he would call me in about 3 weeks.... I wish the call was not so late and rushed... I know that this is a new experience for him but he sound so nervous. I received an email from his recruiter yesterday with his mailing information. Do any one know if the address will change or can I start sending mail to him. ARE THERE ANY GROUPS FOR MOMS WHO SONS/DAUGHTER WILL LEAVE IN SEPT

Hi! Yes the call was very short. I received my sons box on Friday. I received the form letter yesterday about with the PIR dat of 11/12/10. He was able to add a comment he said that he is doing ok, but it is wirse than he thought it would be and he hates it! I sent him a letter to encourge not to get to frustrated. I too am so very proud of him.

99.9% of recruits hate it for the first 3 weeks. They all whine and complain about the discipline and yelling etc. but it gradually all begins to make sense as they settle down into the routine. The Navy tears them down so they can build them back up into sailors. One of the reasons for the no phone calls or mail for the 1st 3 weeks is to isolate them from home and family and get them used to relying on their shipmates. By the time they do Battlestations in the final week they'll be so excited about the Navy. That phone call they get to make where they say "Hi Mom, I'm a sailor!" is very rewarding for them and for us.
To answer one question....no, they are not allowed to come home after Bootcamp PIR. They go directly to A school.

Hello! If you have an address you can start sending them letters now. I spoke to my son yesterday he seems to be doing good, the call was only to get information for some paper work, but he did say he should be able to call me within the next week or so it really made my day yesterday just hearing his voice. I have not receieved any letter except for the "formal letter" with the PIR date of 11/12/2010. I started sending letters last Wednesday beacuse that is when his recruiter gave me the address.

Call your son's recruiter there is a system that they can check to see the address information. My son left on 9/21 and I thought his PIR would be 11/19 but when I got the formal letter it said 11/12. You should be getting yours soon. Have you received the box with his personal things in it?.

Yes, I got it last Friday and I got the form letter on Monday. I was told that they get a chance to write on sunday so maybe they had a chance to write this past sunday so I will be running home to check my mail box.
