For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son is Logistics and will go to A school in Meridian, Mississippi. Don't know if he is grad and go and probably won't know until we get closer to graduation. He's excited about doing Logistics because his cousin, who is a navy vet, told him he would have time to take college courses and he really wants to do that. I don't think your boyfriend will be allowed to fly home with you. From what I have read they don't get leave until after their A school. But I have heard that a lot of families adopt sailors for Thanksgiving or some of the churches will have a Thanksgiving dinner for them. The good news is that I have read that most of the A schools stand down over Christmas so he probably has a good chance of coming home then.

Oh, I absolutely miss my son too. My son is 21, graduated from high school into the recession. Couldn't find a job, couldn't afford to go to school and this was such a good thing for him to do. Did your son fly out at 11:40 am, arrive at 5:30 and stay at the airport until 11 pm? My son says there were 10 of them and they were among the last group to get there. I have a feeling they were up all night. Perhaps your son, my son and NavyGFAulbree's boyfriend are all in the same ship and division. I have a feeling they may be. I have to say I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who hasn't gotten the letter. Maybe we'll get it tomorrow

Hey there,
My son left on 9/21/2010 I wonder if our sons are in the same div? My son called me at 10:00 pm Tuesday night after he got there the call was so scripted, he sounded really nervous. He is 17 never spent more than a night away from home so I know this is a big adjustment for him but I know he will be fine after all he spent 4 years in JROTC that should have prepared him a little........

Hard to say what ship and division they will be in. Sounds like your son has already started processing. My son will get there today and start processing tonight. It will be a long night for him, I'm sure.

Yes my son has already started his processing. I already have his div/ship/ mailing address. Yes it will be along night. The " I am here safe call" was really depressing for me it was short and sounded very scripted.

Oh, you are so lucky to have his div/ship/mailing address. I can hardly wait until I get that too. I have heard that the I am here safe call is short and very scripted. I won't get that call as my son decided to be fair he would call his sister. (His father and I are divorced and it was not very amicable). I think that may be a good thing.

We are from Fulton, NY. It is about 35 miles northwest of Syracuse by Lake Ontario. We get all the lake effect snow! About 200 inches of it during the season! I love this forum for keeping in touch with other moms!

Well, got a call from my son and he arrived in Chicago at 5:30 Chicago time but the bus was not picking them up until 11 p.m. I guess he is learning the meaning of "hurry up and wait." lol. He waited so long he was starting to get nervous and think he should have learned more before he left. He was so nervous I had him call his cousin who is a Navy vet. His cousin must have calmed him down cause he called me 20 minutes before the bus got there and sounded much better. Now I wait for the "official" call. I'm glad he decided to take his cell phone with him, even though it will be sent back home. He sure needed the ability to be able to call home and get reassurance. Now I just wait to hear what ship and division he will be in.

My son left 9/22 from columbus, oh for Boot camp. Plane left airport at 4 I received my call about 10 arrived safe and will call in 2 weeks. y'all, I miss my son as well. He is very excited and looking forward to starting all his training. I met some moms at MEPS, looking forward to keeping in touch with them. God Bless them all. Very Proud Navy Mom!
