Welcome to Your Division!  I hope you will be able to attend the Meet and Greet.  Just to make it fun I hope you will take a little time and design a simple flag to represent your division at the Meet and Greet that will be used to designate your divisional table.  While we will all meet together as a PIR group it will help you find each other as a division as well!  Show your creativity!!   Each division will have some individual issues because each division will be unique.  I hope you find this discussion helpful and fun!!

We are staying at the navy lodge, and we will be at the meet and greet. there will be three of us
My boyfriend and I are going to do the road trip--All the way from California. I'm very excited. We plan on arriving the 3rd and my brother is supposed to flying in on the 4th. I'm hoping to be at the meet and greet.
Anyone else flying into Chicago on the 4th? I'm still waivering about renting a car since I'm probably going to be alone. But if Andrew wants to go sightseeing I guess I'll have to. Not crazy about driving in Chicago though!
Hi Marrianne:

I finally made my reservations last night. We are staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Waukegan. We get in the afternoon of the 4th around 3:00. I'm sorry you won't get to make the meet and greet. I hope we'll get to see each other before that though. Give me a call soon.
Has anyone volunteered to do the flag for our division?????
I just got a 5-minute call from Andrew. Yay!!!! He says he doing fine. Hungry all the time even though he eats a lot at each meal and wouldn't be surprised if he has gained weight just in muscle mass. He says they run all the time. Hope you guys get calls today too!
Denna and marianne - congrats on your phone calls...bet you all are walking on cloud nine!! I know I was. I am so happy for you..Ahem...your reports are a little short however....can we not have details ladies...lol!!
Hello fellow Div. 364 families. Received 1st real phone call from my son about 45 min. ago. He sounded really good. Said things are easier than what he thought would be. They are in Week 2 Day 5. Food is good, Hasnt ate the same thing twice except for breakfast. Passed his first of 3 required written tests today. Said he should be able to call again in 2 weeks if not before. Hope all you get phone calls.
Mine was a pretty short phone call. I guess when they said 5 mintues, he took that seriously so that's what he kept it at, although I think we went a little longer. I asked him if they had done the confidence course yet, and he said no, he didn't know what that was. So, I told him it should be a little more fun than what they've been doing and he just said, "Good!" Sounds like they haven't had a lot of fun yet, although overall he said it hasn't been too bad. He says the group as a whole gets yelled at a lot, but he hasn't been personally yelled at yet. He's only had to do the "drop and give me 20" or whatever once and that was when the entire division had to do it. They're still really bad at marching, although he's doing okay, probably because of boy scout training. Plus, Andrew is 26 so he's a little older than some of the guys. He did say there are some pretty immature guys there. We talked about the tests, he's passed all of them except the mile and half run. The papers tests are all multiple choice or true or false. Then we just talked about family. He says he misses everyone. I'm so glad he's doing okay. I've been worried about the stress they've been going through, but he's doing great. Woohoo.
I got a phone call too. Ashton was not quite so happy and positive. But I don't know if that was just for my benefit (he likes to play on my sympathies) or if he's really having that tough of a time. I know he was very upset that he couldn't get his wife on the phone. But he and I talked for quite a while. He said that mail really helps a lot...so moms keep those letters going. I know if your life is as boring as mine, it's hard to find things to write about. I just try to be positive and not let him know that when he's upset, it upsets me. I really want to cry right now, but I wrote him a letter and I did finally talk to his wife and everything is fine with her. He did say they are working very hard because this division will actually graduate (on a test program) two weeks earlier than they normally would. So we must have some really smart young men in this division.
I got a phone call also. it lasted 7 minutes, I am sure I will get in trouble because I was working and put a customer on hold. we are not suppose to put them on hold for more than a few minutes. but it is worth it. I am so glad I talked to him. He said they pulled one of his wisdom teeth out and he was sick from it for 2 days. He has passed all his test and just has the sniffles right now. He seemed normal to me. I had a hard time hearing him. But he did say he was worried about the tear gas, and wanted me to find out about it. He says he still is on target to graduate on the 5th. He also said he forgot his stamps and wants me to send them to him.
He also said that they put the wrong religion on his dog tags and he will have to get new dog tags. And that was about it. I was just so glad to hear from him. Oh and he is 20 years old.
hey diane this is mitch, alice's lower half. about the gas chamber. tell him not to worry. yea he'll snot and snort and cough and cry maybe even puke but he will survive it. they took us about 20 at a time in to a small building about the size of something you would have in your back yard. you put your mask on and then they release tear gas. then everyone takes there mask off the doors open and you have to say usually your name and in this case probably ship and division then you run out and head to a water trough to wash your face in. most try to take a deep breath and hold it. they make sure you stay in long enough for that to fail at which point you gasp in a good deep breath of tear gas. moral of story just breath normally and dont panic. we've all done it and survived and he will too.

PS: it would be fun to watch though
