no idea.. I'm curious about how his pants are and the belt hes wearing!
How exciting for all of you. I just love reading the posts of what is going on with them. Thanks for the candle info. I'll head out today and see if I can find. I'm lucky since we have a Target and a candle store near one another!

Got 3 letters in one envelope from Vinny this week. The news is much the same as everyone else. Vinny sent me a timeline for the rest of the time at boot camp but it's a little hard to figure. He said battlestation is week 6 day 5 and week 7 day 1. Near as I can tell, the weeks are five days long....so they don't count weekends. What he forgot to tell me is what week/day he was on so I could figure it correctly.!!

Later he does give me a few clues, so I think they either did the gas chamber this week or they are going to do it Monday or Tuesday of next week. My son is very nervous about that. Too many horror stories from his dad on that one!

Vinny also requested I find out any info I could about A school. Seems the kids aren't getting too much and he wondered if I could research on Youtube for him. I did that this morning. If you are interested, other kids before us have posted videos of some of the schools, buildings, rooms etc. It was interesting to learn a bit about the "next step" for everyone.

I booked my airfare and car rental. I booked the hotel long ago. Is everyone from this group going to the meet and greet for PIR 9/15?
Hello! My son Andrew is on Shop 6 Div 948. He is playing his french horn in the band from what I understand! I haven't heard from him yet but I understand it is very stressful right now. I printed out my parking pass today. I hear the weather is cooler than it is here in Texas! I'm still wearing shorts and capri's. I guess I need to look for my winter gear? lol
I did forget that Andrew told me there were two of them therefore his nick name is Mex. I wasn't sure how to take that at first but than his dad and I just had a good laugh about it! Andrew is in the picture with me!
Mi MaryG, my son is Andrew also..., Ship 2 Div 948. He was Ship 6 but they changed him and a few others back in September to Ship 2. Yes, pack for much cooler temperatures at night. Day time temps are predicted highs in the 50's Nights into the 40's & 30's. (Thats PIR 10/15) Is your Andrew PIR 10/15?
Yes he is! Looking forward and excited to see him and all the other's!
not sure if this message will get through. My son is in ship 02 div 948. He will be playing the bass drum and I can't wait to see him soon! It was comforting to see all the moms who cling to their phones, anxiously await the mail and generally miss their kids. I'm not the only one who is acting like this! I thought I was going through early menopause. Does anyone know if it's easier to rent a car and drive their or have the hotel shuttle take you? Cant print off my parking passes still. Bought empty 3 oz bottles for the trip, guess they will dump out 4oz bottles? I don't get out much. Glad to meet you all. Oh, sorry I have no face but even doing this tried my technology limitations
cons mom - welcome! your message came through! Yes, the best part of this site, is knowing what you are feeling is the same as every other mom out there! Seven weeks today - only 1 and a half weeks until we get to hug our sons, duaghters, husbands and fiancees!! They are making us very proud. Jon is in the choir and he will be the sailor with the pitch pipe. We are driving so I can't help you with your questions... you may find some answers on the navy recruit graduation website - the same website that the parking passes are on. We are traveling from PA where are you coming from? Have a great day!!!
We are renting a car at the airport, but taking the shuttle the day of the graduation. Another Mom on Navy 4 Moms told me the shuttle is so much easier than dealing with the traffic and the stress the morning of graduation. As far as the parking passes, you need the password from the letter that was sent at the beginning of boot camp to print them. Hope this helps.
well, what do you know, it did go through! Good advice about shuttle. Will try tonight to download passes. Just thinking, better start taking my vitamins and get my flu shot before trip. How can time go so slow and so fast at the same time? Weather looks pretty good, at least no snow storms:) Anyone know the allowable dimentions of a carry on bag?
im flying alaskaairlines, the dimensions for the carry on is 10" H x 17" W x 24" L (25 x 43 x 61 cm) including wheels and handles, plus one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase or laptop computer. At least one of the items should be stowed under the seat in front of you.
omg...I just saw a picture of my son playing at a graduation!!! I'm so excited, he looks good even from behind!
