that would probably work... Ive been taking them to the gym with me and reading them while I run but I have trouble remembering them after I'm done reading them. Give me a medical term or something scientific and I can remember it for years lol.
Hi sammilynn! Congrats on your DEP date of 11/13! My daughter just read, re-read, and if there was something she couldn't remember by repeatedly reading it she hand wrote it out a time or two and that helped. Some of her fellow DEPPERS would get together and study but that environment didn't work for her - she just had to buckle down and focus on her own. Good luck!!
My daughter used flash cards she made herself. I also randomly test her so that she remembers.
I made some of them and its helping a little but its just that as soon as they are gone its not in my head any more...
sammilynn, how are you doing now? Any progress in getting those orders memorized? :) Some people learn better if something is set to music (that's why kids remember bible verses as songs, or we remember historical facts set to rhymes and music) or if they have a visual image or association to what they are memorizing that links the information together in their brains. How did you study best for tests in school?

Someone just taught my pre teen son and I an interesting technique. It first relaxes you and then helps the right and left sides of your brain connect and work together in order to memorize something, and to squelch anxiety before a test...visualize a figure 8, now lay it down on it's side. Got it? Now, take both hands, press them together, palm to palm, arms extended. Now, trace that figure 8 slowly with your extended arms and palms, following (tracking) the path it traces with both your eyes. Don't go too fast, it might make you dizzy! :) Do it about three or four times. Breathe, slowly and deeply, through your nose only. Then calmly go to whatever it is you need to learn and start to study. Supposedly, the science and theory is that your creative and your logical sides will come together to capture and then file/store the information you are trying to memorize and will need to recall later.

Btw: It may also be that your learning style isn't compatible with visual learning primarily, i.e. reading something over and over. Have you tried recording yourself or someone else reading them out loud? You could be more of an auditory learner. Maybe instead you need to be listening to them while you are running? Sometimes kinesthetic learners do better when they move or jump in rhythm (like Akela and the [spelling] bee-you could try jump roping while you say them out loud. =) Might get some funny looks at the gym, but oh well, LOL, or just do it at home.). See it, say it, do it. I wish you much success. I bet you'll be able to recall more than you think. It'll come back to you when it counts! God Bless and thanks for being willing to serve your country and protect all of us. :-)
Well I am getting there I just have a few more to do and I have trouble remembering the orders with their number I can remember them but I always seem to think number two is number one lol. That trick helped calm me but has not really helped me memorize anything. I actually go Wednesday to do my PQS so I hope I can get them perfect by then. I actually take them to the gym with me and read them as I run or bike.

Thank you for your blessings!
Hi!
Our son ships out in January. I showed him what I do to memorize parts for a group I am in. I would memorize the first line. then repeat it with the second line until I could remember each word correctly. Then I would continue to add a line until it all was learned. The key is the repetition. Say it often and check your wording each time. I think saying it out load is helpful also. Good Luck!
Well I passed my PQS so far which I used a combo of flash cards and my husband randomly asking me questions
Awesome sammilynn. :-) Glad to hear that all your studying and efforts have paid off sofar. Keep up the good work! Designer is right, repetition is the key! You'll have it all down by BC no doubt. :)
