my daughter left at 12:30 today I have not really stopped crying. I am very sad but very proud of her choice at the same time. I really did not have time to think about it we only found out she was leaving today 13 days ago.
Wow, that must be really hard. My son didnt let us know when he signed up. He was in his third year of college...but when I saw that he was really focused on this goal I had no choice but to get with "his" program". It's hard I only have two kids son/daughter they are inseperable...she is taking it very hard. But I know with continued support she will be okay. She wants him to be happy and he definitely was yesterday. God bless our children...
My daughter did the same and signed up without our knowledge after 2 years of college. She too seemed to be very focused on what she wanted and as hard as it was I supported her in every way. She also has one sister and being only15 months apart they too, are very close. Her sister had a very difficult time with her leaving too but seems to be doing ok at this point. Good luck to your son and God Bless!

Hi my son left for bootcamp yesterday October 4th. I'm so excited for him. I was very proud to see him keep a straight face and not shed a tear when we all go so emotional. I guess they learn that...his sister totally loss it and he said his goodbye and walked away. Joining this group has helped me because he didnt provide me with any information. I GOOGLED everything. What's up with these kids?
My son left on Oct 4th, from Fort Worth Tx.
Hello, my son left from New Orleans....I got his information from the recruiter yesterday. I can start writing!!
Where did your daughter leave from? What division is she in?
my son left our house on 10-4 for the overnight before he left. some minutes i think my heart stopped beating the minute he left. he is the oldest of my 3 sons and was barely 18 when he signed up. i am so proud words can't describe but also quite sad at the same time. i got "the box" today and rushed right home expecting to have an address for him in it and there was none. this waiting is hard on a mom......
My daughter left for MEPs on 10-5 and GL on 10-6 from Denver. That was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. She was so brave and did not seem nervous or at least show it. Im sure she was just being strong for us because she knew how hard her decision was for me. Although I am ok with it now and sooo very proud of her. She has many family and friends that are supportive and know she has the determination, positive attitude and potentional to do well. Cant wait to see her and confident young lady she will be.
My sister left 10/4 also/ We just received the "form" letter today. Her PIR is 11/24/2010..Now I have questions as to what is going to go on for Thanksgiving weekend?? Are they going to get to leave for the weekend or have to stay on base? I would hope someone will let us know soon so we can hurry up and book hotels and reservations for airfare!
