I have been asked to coordinate & help plan a Meet & Greet for families of 12/3/10 PIR sailors. Any and all input is greatly appreciated. I will be emailing my nephew who is a naval reserve officer for possible locations close to the base that we could meet at the evening before graduation. Hope to see all of you there:)

Yes, Dodie---let em know what I can do to help!!!!
I am interested and will continue to monitor this group. My nephew graduated 2 years ago from BC and my sister-in-law said that it was a great evening to finally meet people that she had been chatting with while he was in BC. I am thankful that you are willing to coordinate this Meet & Greet.
Oh Dodie! Thank you SO MUCH for coordinating the meet and greet for our PIR group!! Let me know if I can do anything at all to help!
Ya'll the Ramada has a M&G the night before PIR from 6-8pm...many PIR groups will go to this one and then meet at Anastasia's or Flannigans afterwards.

The Ramada does it regardless if ya'll come. Many that are there have never heard of N4M's (gasp)

They have a lady at the door filling out name tags, heavy appetizers, 2 free drink coupons to anyone who is a guest at the Ramada ( you do not have to be a guest to attend)

It is usually held in the bar but many PIR groups ask for it to be held in a banquet room...the bar tends to be dark and loud

There is a "RSVP" under the Events tab but someone from your PIR group has to enter the info and "form" it. It is just for a head count to see who is going to be there. Many groups have color coded scarves or ribbons to separate the N4M's and divisions.

The M&G is a lot of fun..putting faces to names and a great way to "warm up" for PIR the next morning.
Dodie, I'll be there with loads of family in toe....I'll help out any way I can!! Sherri
Thanks Sherri:) My son is going to be a nuke as well.
ME TOO! I changed our reservations to the Residence Inn Waukegan but, will be there Thursday and would love to meet up with you guys!!
QT4JLM, I booked at the Residence Inn because I needed a 2 BR suite (5 of us). As per Jessica B's post above, the Ramada Inn has a Meet & Greet for the PIR groups w/family members attending who don't even know about N4Ms...
Yes, please keep me informed.
Hi Mary Lou,
Let us know in our group if we can help with anything
This would be great! Do you know how long we should plan on staying out there for? Til Sunday? The form letter that I had received indicated that different people would have different times that they could have free time. Has anyone here already booked flights?
There appear to be lots of discounted flights available. American had flights for $70 each way from D/FW airport and Southwest has cheap air fare as well. I am staying until Monday
