Oh my goodness, so much good stuff here today.

Betsy, That was wonderful that Adam asked for a cross to wear. RAOC.

Heidi, I know my son is very nervous. I overheard him talking to his friend on the phone last night. (He was in the same room with me, no I was not easedropping. lol) He was telling him to get his address for bootcamp from his brother and then tell his friends. Many times during the conversation he mentioned how nervous he was, He also told his friends about no weird envelopes or food or musical cards. (that was me interrupting him to mention it to his friend).

Jeanne, thank you for showing us the beautiful verse. It is so perfect with what is happening right now. I was blessed with three sons. I am going to pretend adopt Ashleigh. She is so sweet.

Elizabeth, your son is a cutey. My son forbid me to post his picture anywhere here. He said he has seen what people can do to pictures on the internet. I was upset at first but then I realized with his rating in cryptology it is probably safer. I would still like to show him off though. lol

Have a good day. Kathy
Oh Ladies,
no more RAOC :) atleast not till were gone or you see us gradeeate :) i love thinkin of graduation(PIR), it makes me think less of the process before(RTC). haha so maybe that'll help yall, think less about the today, but more about the tomorrow :) and like i told my mother, set small goals through this time. each week set a short term goal for yourself, not only will that help you get your mind off of things, but also make the weeks pass by much quicker.
if its to lose 2 lbs this week, or show a random act of kindness, or make a family game night, or take the family out, unless its just you and your husband, and do something ALL together atleast once a week. and for Thanksgiving, i know it will be heard not having the WHOLE family present. but we are in good hands, and WILL have a thanksgiving dinner where we are at. :) no worries. plus you bet your bottom we will all be thankful for our mothers and their cookin on this day :)
also id much rather have christmas with my family than thanksgiving, so count your blessings. :)
you ladies seem wonderful :) and i hope to meet each and every one of you at the PIR :)
Keep my momma strong for me ;) she has a special place in my heart, and always will.
im losing my mother and bestfriend all in the same day :( i love you moma :) :)
keep prayin!!

"If God brings ya to it, He'll bring ya through it" :)

Love,
Ashleigh Renee'
Ok Ashleigh you said no more RAOC but the way you talk about your Momma brings it on!! You are a special girl and I can't wait to meet you and your mom on Monday. Susan
Ashleigh,
You are killing me :) You are wise beyond your years. I am sure you are going to do fine.
Wendi
Ashleigh-I loved your comment about how you would rather have Christmas than Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is HUGE in our family, so I was really sad about it, but your comment made it so much better.

You have a very wise spirit!!
Nancy
Wanted to let everyone know that because of you I went to the recruiters office to put my worry to rest, well somewhat to rest... I was told that because of the holidays some divisions will be "pushed". If that is the case PIR could be December 10th not the 17th. I guess more info will come in his third week at BC. I do plan on getting a pink scarf and will have it on even if I can't go to PIR and meet all of you wonderful ladies. He also told me I could send letters and photos while Sean is at BC. Just no food. I feel so much better knowing that Sean has been in good hands with his recruiter. I do think he has finely found his direction---- Love to you all! Now tears of joy for all of you (oh that's right RAOC).
Heading out to the recuiter's office soon - Im preparing my list of questions now, so I will add the 10th vs the 17th - If anyone has any questions of thier own, let me know, I will check here before I leave....
Patti
Oh Patti good! That kind threw me for a loop!! Susan
Hey Susan - he wouldnt commit to an answer for me, he basically said that since it is so close to the Holidays anything could happen..Yikes...
I was told Stephen will leave 11am on Monday Morning, they will take him to MEPS to complete his final paperwork, confirming his rate, bonus and anything else and then he will be brought to the Hotel, Tuesday morning he will receive a 4am wake up call and me must be ready to leave by 5:30am, That is when he will have his final medical check, will be given his travel orders and plane tkt. we are not to go until 9:30 for the official swearing in will be bt 11am and 1. we did receive a pass that we need to enter the base, he mentioned that have your insurace and reggie ready incase they want to do a random search (my inspection is up soon, so I will need to take care of that this week - I would had to be denied entry cause of that) After the offical swearing in we then say our good byes, he will board a shuttle that will take them to the airport. they also said that someone in the group will be chosen to take the lead, keep everyone together and make sure no one loses thier tickets - typically the oldest is chosen. when they arrive in Ohare airport - he did recomend they get food as this will be his last meal for many, many hours( they are given food vouchers, and the USO will have snacks, but nothing substantial) depending what time they arrive at Ohare - they could have a long wait, waiting on other recuits to arrive - then the silent bus ride to RTC. - we did speak about Power of Attorney and a health care proxy, he did recommend getting both , but a limited POA, which I understand that. he went over the 1st weeks at BC, basically being deemed medically fit to complete the program, pretty much a slow week, with your head in a book reading, Steve needs to have his wisdom teeth taken out (all 4), so typically that will be done on week 2, he will get meds, pain killers and be on bed rest for 2 days - but thats it 2 days...
Wow, Patti,

You sure did get a lot of information. I knew some of that, but not all of it. Thank you.

Poor Steve, having to have dental surgery while at boot camp. ((hugs)) to him. I hope everything goes smoothly for him.

I guess I should get started on the Power of Attorney for Adam.

Did everyone call their car insurance companies to see what to do about those weeks at BC? We have Progressive and they said that they will suspend Adam's insurance for that time period and we can pick it back up for him if he does get to come home after BC.

I was also told, by Adam's recruiter, to keep him on our health insurance, just in case he is treated for a pre-existing condition while at boot camp. The Navy will treat them, but if it's pre-existing, our insurance will have to cover it.

Thanks for all the info, Patti.

Betsy
Wow Patti,
Wow, so much good information. I didn't even think about my registration. It's up soon so I need to take of that tomorrow!! I haven't done the POA yet, but it is on N4M in a couple of places. What is the difference between POA and limited POA? Thanks, it is a little difficult to take care of some of this when I am not in town with him.

Did you make an appt. to see the recruiter?
Thanks,
Nancy
Ok, I have a question for everyone. If Adam has no bills, the car is in our name and not much money in the bank, is it really necessary for a POA. He filled out forms for the Navy that said that I would be responsible for him if something happened to him. Wouldn't that pretty much be the same thing?

Betsy
