NavyGirl Yes you are moving on and out but that will always be your home and your parents will always be there for you...they are your light house in the storm.

My son really didn't seem to realize that he would not come back home to live permanantly...he seemed to think that after boot camp he would come back home and nothing would change...he finally GOT IT...I believe he was in denial.
Ashleigh,
This is a very emotional time, the sadness of leaving home and the excitement of starting a new life. Wow what a rollercoaster. Just remember your family will always be there for you. In the military environment you also gain a new instant family wherever you go. Everyone you will be around are experiencing the same emotions and thats why you have a lot of support. I know Jen is trying to be strong for me, but I see it in her eyes. Fortunatly for you guys once you get to basic, you will be so busy you won't have time to worry about us or miss us until your in bed at night, then your so tired that doesn't last long. lol You are such a mature young lady, you guys are going to do well.

I was reading, and if anyone has information on Grad and Go divisions id like to hear about haha. What divisions are grad and go divisions? I just hope im not in one of those, especially if PIR is around Christmas.
Good Morning all my new NavyforMoms friends....
All this info has been great.
I'm going to Old Navy to get the bright pink scarf today.
Off to Army Surplus to see if they have a 3 X 5 Sailor Bible.
I cut a small piece of Navy fabric to the size of a dollar bill and prayed over it all night. It should slip right into his wallet. I want it to remind him that I have been and will continue to pry for him. Just felt I needed to do it. Hopeful it will stay with him.
Where do I get a sturdy chain and Cross? Someone said only a small cross...like 1 inch?!
Sean is so calm and so ready. How am I doing???? RAOC!!
Sending my love and keeping you all in my heart!
P.S. I plan on going to PIR even if my hubby doesn't. That's just how it's going to be. Sean needs to know how much I support him!
Good Morning to all.....
I just wanted to thank everyone for making me feel better. I thought I was the only one that couldn't see my son's facebook. lol. If it is ok, I need to vent about something. My husband. How can he act like nothing is happening and doesn't have to do anything. Why is the mom the one that has to arrange everything while he just goes about his business like B will be here after Sunday. Why is he so cool and matter a fact and not showing any signs of "going to pieces". Ok, I'm finished. Just had to get that out.

Ashleigh, Your home will always be your home no matter where you go or where you live. If it helps, my son feels the same way and I think that is why he told me not to touch his room. He wants it to be just as it is when he comes home. I wish you the best of luck and happiness as you journey through this next phase of your life. Thank you for being here.

Phoebe, I hope you can make it to PIR. I am really excited about seeing all of our pink scarfs in one place. It will be so bright everyone else will have to wear sunglasses. Aaah, RAOC. I cry at every movie that has any military in it. I don't even know I am doing it sometimes until I feel the tears falling. We are doing OK.

Betsy, B is taking a book of proverbs and psalms that is the right size. I don't know where he got it though. Call the church and they might be able to help you and even have some small bibles. You know B will be at Pensacola too. The winter there is wonderful so probably spring time weather clothes are best. Then he can buy clothes if he is still there in the summer. I hope our sons will meet one day either at BC or A school.

Today B said I need to teach him to how to iron. lol. I am a permanent press person but I know the basics. He said the rack making was really complicated and will learn at BC but I told him my mom, who was a nurse, showed me those corners along time ago. I can show him what I know anyway. The flash cards I made months ago have still not been used. I hope he manages to learn at least the sentry orders. Please.........

Hugs to all and I am saying prayers that we all get through the next 4 days and remember to enjoy our children in the process.
Our groups kids that left 10/4 - 10/8 all have a PIR (graduation) date of 12/3. So I'm thinking that it sounds more logical that all of your kids leaving the week of 10/25 will have a PIR date of 12/17. I wouldn't get my hopes up on a 12/10 date. That being said, all you can do is hurry up and wait.

You'll get a form letter from your kid about a week after they leave with their PIR date. Once they leave you can't wait for "the box". Once you get "the box" you can't wait for the form letter. Once you get the form letter you can't wait for that first real letter. Once you get that first real letter you can't wait for a phone call. And....so it goes, the constant state of waiting begins LOL!

The form letter does have 4 blank lines that your reruit can write a personal note to you. It's pretty humorous to hear what they all write once your group starts receiving them! My message started with "IT SUCKS HERE", and "recruit hand writing sucks" but she did inclued the "LOL" so I knew it was surviveable for her and she was doing OK.
Sunny,

We are all hoping for the 17th. Some of us have even made reservations already for that weekend. :) We just heard a rumor that there could also be a Dec. 10th PIR.

Your insight is so appreciated on here. Thank you so much for coming on and giving us your experiences. When does is your daughter's PIR? Is she doing well?

Betsy
Hi Betsy! No problem! I really appreciated the insight of N4M moms that went in just before my girl did so I'm in it with you! My daughter PIR's on 12/3/2010, we just got her first real letter and it looks like she'll be able to come home over Christmas during the 2-week stand down so all the family that isn't going to PIR is very excited to see her over Christmas!!
Sunny,

I'm so happy for you to be able to have Christmas with her. That's is very exciting.

Betsy
The Sailors Bible came in the mail today and it's not very big at all. I think he may just take that one. It looked bigger on Amazon, LOL. Susan
Drew'sMom My son took the Sailors Bible and now has it with him in Italy. In it I slipped a letter to him for him to read later and also a self addressed stamped envelope with a few pieces of paper in it for the first letter home.
Great idea!! I think I may do the same.
