I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

I work for the Pregnancy Care Center and the Walk for Life is a fundraiser we do. It's pretty neat and the community came out in great support of us today. What kind of arthritis does Ian's brother have? Kaitlyn my middle child was diagnosed with systemic onset juvenile rheumatoid arthritis when she was 18 months old. It was a really rough time at first and for years but she is 17 now and hasn't had a flare since she was 12. When she was diagnosed they said she wouldn't out grow it, but it's been 5 years and she plays all kinds of sports and is pain free! Susan
Jordansmom, you are very welcome. I just read that the package A includes the yearbook as a bonus. It is a little more money but worth it. Your son will need to pay for it and if we can we can reimburse them for it. Have a good day. Kathy
Betsy, I believe they can take a debit/credit card with them. I also read $300. will be put into their navy account to use. I would also send a void check from his account for the direct deposit to be started. Kathy
Betsy, I just got off the phone with his recruiter (finally!!) nice guy, but real busy. I asked specifically how much money Ian would need and he actually said none. I think I am going to send him with $40 cash and $100 on a Visa card from the store. But the recruiter was saying they start being paid as soon as they get on the plane. I will add more as a recent post.
Nancy
Good info! Wouldn't it be nice to combine all of our recruiters so we would have ALL of the info??!! But its really nice by sharing it with other we all learn so much :))) Susan
Susan, Yes, wouldn't it!! I'm gonna put everything he told me at the end of this discussion. He told me a ton!!
Nancy
The rcts do need a little bit of cash...money for drink machines as well. They will get food vouchers at the airport. They need to EAT and rest well before they get on the bus to RTC. They can take a cell phone to boot camp, use it to text call along the way and then pack it up to be sent home.

They need an activated calling card and make sure they know how to use it.
Hi everyone, I just wanted to mention Jessica has posted on "Boot Camp Moms" group the things to take to Boot camp where the posts are. If you haven't seen it yet it is there. Have a good day and Hugs to all of you. Kathy
hey ya'll, actually there is a post here in this discussion forum about what to take to boot camp....click on "view all" and it's on the last page... it was posted a while ago. I'm going to make a comment on it so it will be pulled forward to the top of the discussions. There is a lot of helpful info here in the discussion forum as well as in http://www.navyformoms.com/group/deppersinbutnotyet...read the discussions there too

As a matter of fact I'm going to just post the info as a comment on the comment wall here like I did on Boot Camp Moms...maybe then more will see it
Thanks Jessica & Kathy.

I had that in my bookmarks and was reading over it this morning. I think Adam is good to go now. :)

Betsy
I will have to look there. I can return the other if needed.
Wendy, Awww, that is so sweet about the little girl crying. It makes you realize that we are not the only ones who will miss our children. I still haven't got my scarf yet but I will before PIR. I think Brandon is pretty much ready to go. He still needs that phone card though. He will get it tonight when he goes to the gym. He is trying to get rid of all the weight from the dinners this week. lol. Kathy
