For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Susan,Ian's recruiter didn't say to bring shot record. Did yours?
Here's another question/comment. Do your kids have debit cards? Ian doesn't and he didn't want to get one. So he won't have any money to buy the pictures as they have to pay with debit/credit/cash. But pictures are $174 and the kids can't have that much cash or pay for them out of their pay. I think I will send Ian with money on a visa card and swear him to silence about how much he has on it. The kids have to pay for the pictures BEFORE PIR or they don't get the yearbook part!
What do you all think?

Go to the discussion part of this group and there is a discussion on pictures. That may help you. It said not out of pay.

Ok I just read it. I guess I was thinking that he could use his debit card because he should have received a paycheck by the time they pay for the pictures. Since we don't know how much that first paycheck will be my husband and I just talked about it and we have decided to just put the money in his bank account. I am so glad you pointed me in the right direction Nancy, that could have been bad! Susan

Glad to share the little I know. I just read that part tonight as the money and pictures. He has me concerned cuz he's so stubborn about a debit card. I think he wants to wait until he gets his Navy account to get a debit card and all else!
the way I read it is if he has a debit card now they will be ok. Are you thinking the kids will get debit cards with the Navy acct? Me too, but not soon enough for the picture purchase.
I am going to play it safe!

I'm not sure if or when they will get a debit card with their Navy acct. Thats why I think I will tell him to pay for the pictures with his regular checking account. We are going to buy the pics anyway, so I guess this will be better. Susan

Ok, I was reading the forum and I don't think the recruits can wear their metals at BC. It appears they can take the medal but not the chain. I guess when they talked about the metal fitting on the dog tags they meant they would wear it on the dog tags. His new metal will not come off the chain so he is going to not wear it but take it with the chain and keep it with his rosary. If he needs to he will just break the chain or send it home if he has to. There was a humorous post on the forum that said one of the recruits was so flustered from all the yelling he actually sent his ID and SS card home in the box. I can imagine what it must be like for our wonderful children. You know how I mentioned getting watches, well guess who doesn't have one yet. Hugs to all. Kathy

Susan, I am still laughing from what your son said. That should be enough minutes and when he runs out he can buy another one at the NEX. I gave Brandon about 8 stamps to take. He can buy more of those too but it gets him started. Kathy

OK, at least I feel better about the phone card! Its after 10pm and I was ready to make a run to Walmart to get another one. I didn't think about him being able to buy one. Susan
