I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

Nancy, I heard they had Sunday mornings until noon off. That is when they can write letters, buy toiletries, go to church, ect. I am sure that sometimes they can go if they earn priviledges though.

Susan, You remind me of myself when I went on vacation. I would prepare for anything and you should have seen my stuffed suitcases. My husband would tell me "Kathy, you know they have stores there too". lol

Kathy
LOL Kathy. I ALWAYS pack too much. Because, you know, you never know what you might need or wish you had brought :))) Susan
Thanks Lori, thinking of you! Susan
Oh Lori, it's getting SO real now isn't it! I'm sorry you had a tough day! I got a real visual of you mowing the lawn in. The rain, crying. Like something out of a movie! :-(

You need to do something to keep you busy and make you cumfy for you. Like a bubble bath or a good book.

I think at some point soon we are going to need our chat area!
Nancy
Sounds like you have it under control. You are more organized than me, but I am right behind you. Getting wallet stuff together at Ian's family party. Ian says he doesn't want a watch at BC. I got him a very nice one for his high school graduation present, and he doesn't want another one. We'll see.

Sweet dreams,
Nancy
It is so hard to believe the time is already here from when they all started this process. I will be thinking of you all Sunday and Monday.
Donna
Thank you Lori for your kind words. Awww, hugs to you, and it is ok to not always be strong. I will be saying so many prayers this week I don't think I can go to work. lol. It is a priority to me though and I am wishing the best for all of us and our recruits. Yea, Brandon bought a watch tonight. Now we will stop by in the morning to get a phone card. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. Kathy
Today is the dreaded going away party - - part of me is glad we are having it today as it will be a good distraction and who better to comfort you than your family and good friends; right? But it seems that the closer it gets to him leaving the more RAOC I am having. I cried yesterday at Costco picking up the cake. I cried in the car listening to songs that reminded me of him. He sold his car yesterday; that made me cry. Am I going crazy or what?? Like I have some kind of emotional attachment to his car??? I am just going to miss seeing it in the driveway (another reminder that he is not here w/us anymore). The tears are definitely uncontrollable. I just don't want to bring everyone else to tears at the party. And I def. don't want to let my son see me that upset. Tonight is special that he is spending the night w/us. He has been spending the nights over his girlfriend's house for the last couple of weeks. Actually, his girlfriend is, of course, sleeping over also. There is no such thing as seeing him by himself anymore.
I know a lot of you have the same depart date as Roger (Monday, 25th), so I will keep all of you in my prayers. I am confident that we all can get through this. Again, I have really taken comfort in reading all of your stories and knowing that I am not alone in going through this. Have a great and hopefully not too tearful day today, everyone.
Stewfam, Hugs for you. thank you for your prayers. I have never been more thankful for the support I have received here. Brandon is at church at the moment (I overslept and didn't make it), My husband just left to go to the store to get him a phone card, and I am having a RAOC (random act of crying) before everyone gets back. We will leave for the recruiters in 80 minutes. Last night he had me print out the sentry orders and many other stuff so he could study it before he gets to great lakes. I was up past 2:00 and he was still up when I went to bed. He was still able to make it to church at 8:00. I know he wanted to get his St. Michaels metal blessed. Enjoy the party today and I am glad your son is staying at your place tonight. I will be thinking of you and praying that you stay strong for your son. It is hard but there is enough time for tears after they leave and He will feel better knowing you are ok when he leaves. It is so hard telling you this when I am crying as I write. Hugs and God Bless You. Kathy
Thank you so much for your kind words, Kathy - - I am thinking of you and saying prayers for you to be strong today for Brandon - - it is great that he got up for church this morning - - that was a great idea about taking those orders and other things to study - - thanks - I just told Roger about that - - all of this advice has been soo helpful - - Again, I will be thinking of you and what your going through today - - since I will be going through it tomorrow - - I will def. be on here this week trying to find some peace with this.
Prayers to you and hugs, Kathy. Looking forward to many more communications throughout this incredible journey we are on.
Maureen
Kathy,

((hugs)) ((hugs)) ((hugs))

Betsy
Stewfam,

((hugs)) to you today. I hope your party goes well today and I think you will be surprised at how calm you may be during the party. There will be so many people to talk to, that you won't have time to think.
Having family around helps so much. I was by myself all week and just since yesterday, I am already doing better because they are here.

I had an uncontrollable fit of crying on Friday night, so don't worry, that is so normal. ((hugs))

My thoughts are prayers are with you today and try to remember what's important today. HAVE FUN!

Betsy
