My two sons are going to MEPS next week and then hopefully to Boot Camp soon.  They have plans on storing their furniture and belongings in a storage building while at Boot Camp.  My question is will they need their furniture after Boot Camp when they go to A School?  Does the Navy provide housing for them while at A School, or will they have to find housing and need their own furniture?  I'm new at this so I hope I've said everything correctly!!

My daughter's PIR was 10/15 and she has been sent to Pensacola for A school, she says she is in a dorm room type suite, with a refrig and micro in her room. She did purchase a TV this past week, so I think everything she needs will be furnished for her while she's there.
Thanks for the info Charlee! Can you tell me how long your daughter was in DEPS before going to Boot Camp, and will my sons know more about when they will be leaving for boot camp after they go through MEPS? Thanks!
She went in March and looked at the different jobs that were available for her, she picked one, and then was told that she would leave August 18. She was offered an earlier time later on, a spot became available, but she stuck with her origional date. I think it all depends on what is needed and when. I have read on here that some kids wait for a year! I thought 6 months was long enough, we were all ready for her to get the move on with things, but that's how it works, hurry up and wait she says...
BTW, I looked to see where you live, a girl I went to high school with runs a Sonic in your town..
My son Ben is at A-school in Fort Meade, MD. He's been there since Labor Day and will finish in March. His room is like a typical dorm style room. He has fridge, microwave and television. The Navy provides everything else.
