Hello Ladies! Now it's Sean's turn. He is now a US Navy Recruit! It was good seeing him join in on the laughter and conversations as we waited for him to take the Oath. He was there with Tracy from my area. She is only 18 and her mom (Angelica) did not know about all of us. Mom really needs us so please keep a look out for her to show up on this site. It is like a load of bricks off my back to have Sean inter this stage of his life. Have been trying to catch up on what is going on...looks like you had a great time last night sharing!! Love to you all and have a blessed day. Will up load pics tonight....
Ok, if Betsy hasn't beat me to it, the personal message goes to our email and our inbox here. Yay. Just remember not to mention last names here. Phoebe and Stacey, My thoughts and prayers are with you both today. I also was so proud of my son I think it lasted all day long and I only cried when I finally got the call last night. Hugs to you. Kathy
Okay I dropped Jen at the recruiters and waited with her unti they left at 1130. All went well, she said they would probably get to Nashville fast because of who eas driving. She text me at 110 to say she was at meps in Nashville. I would say that was pretty good time from Huntsville lol. she will ship out tomorrow. now the wait begins. I am glad she is there now, we are having tornado warnings now, I was worried she would be out on the road in this. Looking forward to finding out what everyones divisions are now!

Donna
Donna,
The journey has begun. I wish your daughter well. Next we will be writing about our phone calls tommorow night. I am excited to be a part of such a proud group. We have fine young adults.

Stacey
How much more stressful can this get???? My son's flight has been delayed going to Chicago from Philly because of the wind storms in Chicago. I knew we should have made plans to go to the airport with him. Now, I feel really bad for him. He got sworn in this morning at MEPS and he is with seven other guys that will all be going to Pensacola, Florida for A School. (That part made me very happy). I am so glad he is not going to be alone on the flight. I told him that these guys were probably going to be friends he would have for the rest of his life - - somehow I don't think that made him feel any better. It might be a very long night tonight waiting for our phone call :( I am praying that his flight goes smoothly and he at least gets out to GL sometime today. Darn weather !!!!! I am so dreading the idea of not hearing from him again after today for a while - - then on the other hand, at least the countdown will begin to PIR. Either I will be 20 pounds heavier by then or 20 pounds lighter - - this could go either way
Hello, I just got back from MEPS in Richmond VA. After the swearing in, the recruits were told that the OHare airport was shut down, the recruits were fed and taken back to the hotel. My son and 14 others will fly out from Richmond airport tomorrow instead of flying out of Norfolk airport. We did get to have dinner together last night as we reserved and stayed 9 mins from MEPS. My son is upset that boot camp wil now be delayed one day because of the weather but he and some of the recruits are going out tonight for their last lobster night before boot camp. There was one child up there without a coat, cell phone, phone card, nor did he have stamps. My son shared some of his pages of stamps with him and allowed the recruit to use his cell phone to call home. All in all, I handled today very well and I guess it is because I know my son is still in Virginia although a few hours away. Tomorrow, while he is flying, that will more than likely be a different story, thanks everyone for your prayers and support.

Kim
Kim

Wow, poor kids, but that's a great idea to have a lobster dinner tonight. At least they will all get to know each other some more and maybe they will be together at boot camp.

I'm sure you will be just fine tomorrow. We have all had different experiences and every one of them have been positive. I will keep Joseph and you in my prayers.

Betsy
Betsy thank you so very much. Yes, they sat all day in MEPS waiting for orders after they were sworn in. But, they made it through the day. given their orders and sent back to the hotel. All of the kids were just wonderful, overwhelmed, but they handled all of the orders and obstacles. Their parents would have been proud of them. There were 14 recruits that were to be shipped to Great Lakes and only 4 set of parents. As usually, we adopted a couple of them today. My heart went out to those who families were not able to be there today, but we cheered them on as if they were apart of our family. I believe that is what parents should be about, not only to support our children but all children who are brave enough and committed enough to serve our country. All of my son's life, evven in grade school, he brought kids home who didnt have anyone waiting at home for them, now in the Navy, I think my table will expand again and my home will be filled with extended sons......... I'm excited! My husband and I have missed the extra children in the house and I have to keep reminding myself that he will be bringing home extra men.............................

Kim
Kim, you sound like me! We always have the kids here. As I'm writing we have the gang here hanging with Nick. We head to Albany tomorrow to take him to the hotel and then we will meet up with him at MEPs on Thursday. So it sounds like we could be sitting around for awhile wait to head to the airport. I'm sure we will meet up with recruits with no family too. I'm sitting here listening to the crazy conversations from the other room knowing how much I am going to miss it!
The silence will only be during bootcamp, if Nick is anything like Joseph, don't be surprised if he brings home company after boot camp. Some of the kids have no where to go. I am gearing up for it as I live in a military town and more than likely, a lot of them will be stationed in Norfolk, Virginia Beach or Chesapeake and knowing Joseph, they will be here. We raised them well! Don't forget to remind Nick to take a heavy coat for Great Lakes, and yes, it will be hurry up and wait at MEPS, but it will be worth it. Today was an awesome day for my family. Good luck and many hugs to you, Nick and your family for raising such a fine young man!

Kim
Wow, Kim, That is disappointing for your son. I did wonder about the high wind warning yesterday too. Hugs and I will be thinking of you and your son tomorrow. Kathy
Maureen,
My son TJ will be going to Pensacola for A school too. I hope that his travels are safe and the weather calms enough for peace of mindfor you.
I know what you mean about the weight shift, I am eating cookies as I type this. It really helps though, looks like I will be on the 20 pounds heavier side, lol. Good luck.
