I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

Betsy - Good luck! At least it is a distraction for you. My girls would be the same way if they were sharing a place. Wait, they are, they live here with me and I have to deal with their bickering :) Have a good night. Susan
Betsy, I know you are dissappointed but tomorrow morning you are going to get that information and your son is going to be on Susan or my son's division. We are going to celebrate having more information about our sons. Enjoy your daughters tonight. Hugs. Kathy
You all have so much excitment going on! The box came already; I thought it would be more like 10 days. I'm only 1 state away from GL so maybe A's will come tomorrow. I'm calling the recruiter tomorrow to see if I can get the Div/Ship #'s. A phone call - what a wonderful surprise. Is that due to a high security position?? I want a box! I want a phone call! I want the Div/Ship # - tomorrow maybe :-)

I love HCC; what a great book - I just couldn't put it down last night. In fact its almost 7:00 P and I'm geting into my comfy clothes and going to read!

I'll check back in later to see if there are anymore updates. Once you get the Ship and Div do we have a new group to join or form? Or, maybe the next group is the PIR group. How many Ship / Div's are in 1 PIR?

I was feeling so much better today at work; now I'm nervous again.

Lori
Lori, I didn't get a box either today. Yes, he needs high clearance. It was nice hearing his formal voice but I couldn't ask him anything. I think I got the ship and div because my husband went over there to get it. I bet they wouldn't have called me back. The next group is the PIR group that we form. I think we can find out that date in a few days. I am going to also get comfy, eat, and read somemore. Have a good evening. hugs. K
I know Lori, It's so hard not to be jealous... but their kids DID leave earlier than mine did...so I have to understand. Want to know all the stuff so badly...AND it is tough not to be able to anticipate getting the box. Again, going to the GF... I guess I will get stuff like his phone..which I pay for (have you guys turned off kids phones yet? I didn't want to do that until he got to BC).

Hang in there...it IS exciting and these little microsteps make it easier to progress through the whole experience...at least for me. Having things to look forward to.
Nancy
Oh, I'm not jealous, just teasing; I'm excited for everyone! I'm nervous - a good nervous and really looking forward to each new step. I just sent A's recruiter an email and also left him a VM (covering my bases). I asked him to let me know, when able to do so, A's ship and div numbers. I hope my box comes here; his GF got the phone call, hoping I get the box. I did tell her I would call her when it arrived so we can open together.

Turning off phones; I don't think I can save any $$ by turning off A's phone because his plan isn't up until next July. Did anyone check on this?

Winds in MI are calm tonight; the temperature has dropped but isn't horrible so those who have kids from southern states at GL, its chilly. Glad the winds have subsided.

Do we have anyone who left for GL today that is still awaiting the phone call or is everyone now an official BC mom?

Lori
K - Your right about Penny. I hope she is doing OK. D loves the wind too. We lived in FL for 8 years and he feels like that is home to him. It's really windy in FL :) Susan
OK...I'm a bit jealous (may not be the correct word...envious {nicer than jealous})... so it can be only me LOL...

OH yeah...but I think the companies will at least pause service so that you are not paying for phones you are not using. I will find out. I THINK we are all official BC moms now..just need to wait for PIR dates so we know where to go next. IF we are NOT in the same PIR (sadly...could happen) then we could form our own little group. need to wait and find out.

I gotta go watch the world series... starts in 7 minutes and my significant other is waiting in front of the TV. LOL

I will check back in tomorrow and see what everyone's status is then.
Sleep well all,
Nancy
Nancy - I'm going to keep D's phone on. His plan is up in April so I figure then he can get his own plan. I can't to here what ship and div he is!! Susan
Mine is with t-mobile and I heard there is a way to move them over to their own plan...Will look into it after BC.
Nancy
At&T told me I can switch my son's phone to his own billing but that would almost be fruitless at this point. When he gets done with boot camp and goes to school will probably be the right time.
I see the telephone as a minor issue compared to medical insurance and car insurance that's no longer needed.
Well ladies, I am mentally and physically exhausted tonight...what a day...I was able to make the swearing in this am. I was the only mom there so I tried to talk to all of the boys. It was really amazing! I was so proud watching them say their oath. Then we went to the airport where they were treated like royalty! I was so glad that someone talked about the temporary boarding pass because I arrived earlier than the boys and was able to get mine. I wish you could have seen my son's face when they said for me to go pick up my "boarding pass!" He thought I had managed to get a flight to GL with him! hahaha! I think he was really scared that I had finally cracked! Our airport has a USO room, a military courtesy room. The boys had recliners, computers, food, drinks, tv...treated just like royalty! All of the security personnel shook their hands and thanked them for their service! I was able to actually see him board his plane! I checked his flight and saw that they landed ahead of schedule, so I am "patiently" waiting for my call! I don't remember who mentioned smelling the clothes...but that is exactly what I am waiting for!!! I'm glad I'm not alone! I stopped by the book store on the way home today and ordered HCC. I have heard all of you talk about it and am anxious to begin.
I know I am rambling...emotions are flying...I so don't want to go back to work tomorrow... but it is Friday, thank goodness!
Take care all...love and prayers to all of you,
Penny
