Oh my goodness ladies! It took me forever to go back and catch up on the day's happenings. So happy for all of you who got ships and divs. I know I won't know for a little while because he just got there, but at least I know what is coming. I think I am going to need to make a spread sheet to keep everyone and their ships/divs straight! :) I'm really shocked that PIR might be 12/10! I just wish we knew...would love to be able to make plans. I would hope for the 17th only because Ns "galpal" will be back from Ecuador by then and he really wanted her to go. But the US Navy isn't going to make their decisions to accomodate our social calendars! :) I can't stay on too long...I'm so exhausted! Work was a nightmare and as I'm a teacher, all of my grading and planning has backed up this week. I will be spending my whole Friday night playing catch up...that is, after I write N a letter!
Oh thanks Betsy! Just had to come back and ask..how did you get the ship and div? Was it a call or letter?
Hi...I think today is my lucky day....I just got a call from "T" he sounded really good, tired, but good, he gave me his address and said he wrote me a letter last night but hasn't mailed it yet. He said his instructors are very strict but "cool" so that means alot coming from an 18 year old boy, he said they have already learned how to march and since they did well they got special privilege to use the phones....when I saw GL number come up I freaked out thinking something was wrong and I would be on my way to pick him up, but he said it was not so bad and all the guys are really "cool", he finally was able to sleep last night, lights out is at 8 and they get up at 6, so that's not bad, maybe they are trying to catch them up on the sleep they've missed....he said he is bald now and in his "Smurf" suit, he was pretty excited that he got gloves and a ski mask (huh?) we live in FL so ski mask is a whole new ball game for him. He said all his personal belongings, wallet, address book and Bible he has in a sock but now that he is with his Division he can put it in his rack I think. He said he bought a canteen and it was a wise $4.00 investment because the one he was issued was probably used by 100 guys. I asked about graduation he said he didn't know yet when that would be...all in all he sounded really good, it made my heart finally find the peace I have been looking for....
Elizabeth
OH MY GOODNESS Elizabeth, that is so awesome! I'm so happy for you. What a wonderful surprise. I even feel better knowing that he said it''s not so bad. Oh, I bet you are just beside yourself with happiness.

Betsy
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am....he said the instructors yell alot but that is ok so far not at him and he said he really wants to keep it that way. I got to talk to him for about 20 minutes, I could hear someone in the back ground and he would say hold on a minute and then talk I said what are you doing he said I have to listen for my division to be called so I know when we are leaving, when his division got called he said I gotta go, I love you, bye...it was awesome. He said the food isn't good, but tonight he had a cheeseburger and macaroni and cheese and that wasn't to bad, this morning was pancakes and that was ok. I feel like I am finally able to breath.....wow what a great day :o)
P.S. - I feel like I could do cart wheels down the street right about now......YIPPEE
Hi Elizabeth... Lets talk. I think my son and yours is in the same div. My S. is in ship 02 div 906. lets friend.
If they have a high ASVAB score, or any marching experience like rotc, band in school. There are different sections in the 900 division, the ones that have talent playing instruments or singing and then ones that have marching experience to carry the flags or rifles. Also the ones with high asvab scores to run everything during the performances. Also since they will be doing extra work they have to make sure that the ones that are in the 900 division will be able to keep up with their regular basic training duties along with training for performances.
Donna
good morning Heidi, Did she have a high ASVAB test score, passed PT while a DEP and/or can swim? That is what they asked my S.
Oh My Gosh - Elizabeth - Im so happy for you! - what a wonderful gift you recieved. thanks for sharing with us, it helps to ease the pain of the unknown, your last line brought tears to my eyes..
Oh Elizabeth that is wonderful! I can't wait to hear again...I just will be so upset if I miss it! Thanks for all of the details! :)
Oh my goodness Elizabeth - I'm so happy for you! Thanks for sharing his news as it helps all of us better appreciate what is happening. I bet you were nervous to see GL appear. I would be too epecially at this stage in the game. So he has already been able to write letters! Didn't have to wait until Sunday. Do you have his Ship and Div yet? What day did T leave. I can't keep it straight. So so happy you had a voice :-)
"T" left on Wednesday...so the call was so unexpected last I knew he would call in 3 weeks, not 3 days, so when the GL area code came up I freaked out, I was in the middle of getting dinner done I grabbed the phone and when I heard his voice I said how are you able to call me, hoping he wouldn't say I'm on my way home....he said we got phone time tonight, apparently they had a good day and are ahead of the other divisions so they got rewarded, he said all the guys in the division are focused and ready to work, the instructor told them not to make him look bad and it appears that they all get it.....I tell you if this is the rewards they will get 30 minutes at the exchange and phone bank I think they will all do the right thing. His division is 906 which I always thought was a performance division (band, flags) he doesn't know how to do any of that....I guess he could hold a flag, it almost sounds like all of them would hold a flag if it meant going to PIR....haha
