I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

Hi Sharon, My brother lives in Katy. He is a Fire chief. He has two daughters that went to school there and they have graduated High School. Did your son graduate from there? They may know of your son and have info. I know it is a long shot but would love to help you. Hugs. K
My son graduated in June, but I know there are several high schools in Katy. He went to Cy Springs.
Hi Sharon, I think his daughters graduated from Katy high school if that is the name. His youngest graduated about 2 years ago. I am sorry. Keep faith though and I pray that everything turns out well for you. Hugs. K
That is the Cypress Fairbanks ISD aka Cy-Fair ISD. That is where my kids go to school. It is a HUGE district though. If you want to send me a message I can look into it.

I can sympathize with your situation. I raised my husbands daughter. I didn't give her life but I raised her. She has chosen to have VERY little contact with her mother. She refused to see her before she went to bootcamp. I begged and pleaded with her to at least see her for 30 minutes or so. She has valid reasons for feeling the way she does towards her mom. But I can't imagine how you must feel being "out of the loop".
I hope you hear something soon.
Hello Betsy, my son just called and told me that is PIR date is 12/22, is that possible? We are thinking that maybe they are having it 12/22 because of Christmas Eve being on Friday and not sure why they didnt combine his clas with the 17th. graduating class. I am waiting for the letter with his mailing address and his box.

Kim
Thank you Betsy, I am afraid to call his recruiter, don't want him to call GL and then they start teasing my son that is a Momma's boy! I have a friend who's husband is a master chief and she said that is not a good idea. She went on to say that we call, our sons or husbands pay dearly with ridicule and some times scorn depending on the circumstances of the call. She said her husband has grilled a lot of sailors in his career because of their family. I guess I will wait for his wife to recieve letter and box. So anxious, but at least I heard his voice today so, I'm doing much better than yesterday. He called me instead of his wife, so he must have known what I was going through. Betsy thanks a million for always coming to my rescue. You have been an inspiration and a very broad shoulder during this troubling and confused week. Thanks so very much,

Kim
Thank you Betsy, his recruiter was very nice. He thanked me for my son. I mean, he was very nice. But my friend advised me not to call. She said the recruiter would have to call Great Lakes for the information and the boys have a tough time as is fitting into the routine, so advised me to just wait for Joseph to send the info. Yes, between work and my 2 yr old granddaughter, his wife is doing ok. She cried yesterday knowing that he had missed her call. I told her that I explained to him that we talk several times per day and she was in the mall with the baby and probably didn't hear the phone. She wanted to know when he would call next and I told her that he didn't say. She was happy to know that his box should arrive at their home some time this week. I tried to get her to join this site, but I guess she is just too busy. Thank you so very much, Kim
Kim, I think Betsy is right and different recruiters do it differently. My sons recruiter told us to call him and my husband actually stopped by the office last week. He just pulled the info off the internet and printed it out and gave it to him. I wouldn't worry about it, you should get your letter this week with the information you need. Have a great day :) Susan
Kim - what ship / div is Joe in? Lori
He didnt have a chance to tell me and I was driving down the highway and was just listening to him. I have no idea. Kim
Hi Kim, I am so happy for you. A call. Yay. I still don't know what PIR my son will be in. Did your son say he was in a performance division, maybe 906? I know that that division will most likely be in the PIR 12-22. Maybe tomorrow we will all know. I have heard it is perfectly fine for the moms to call the recruiters to find out the childrens address so they can start writing letters. It should be OK. They just look it up on the computer and then they also give you his ship and division. Hugs and God Bless You. K
Man, I didn't really expect a 12/22 PIR. Is there even going to be a 12/10 PIR?? All this waiting has us Mama's going crazy! Susan
