Hi Susan, I don't know about 12/10 PIR. I do know that if the airport had not shut down due to bad weather on 10/26, Joseph was told that they could PIR by 12/17 if they did what they were supposed to do. I am busy shopping for my granddaughter's outfit for graduation, and writing letters and finding pictures to send him, so it keeps me busy. I had my melt down Saturday and rebounded. Kim
Aww Kim. I think last week was bad for most of us. I am hoping that when we get our PIR dates it will give us something to focus on to get through. Susan
Hello, Joseph didn't say what division. He had lost so much time, trying to call his wife, then my house phone to get my answering service, then he called my cell. He wanted to make certain that I was checking on the baby and his wife and that I knew that he was ok. He said bootcamp so far (all that have done thus far is processing) wasn't bad at all. Once they arrived, they were up for 24 hrs +, but thanks to all of you guys, he and his troop slept as much as they could in the airport and aboard the planes. He said they should start actual boot camp today, but it would be ok as long as everyone listened. I will give thought to calling his recruiter (because he is indeed very pleasant and respectful), but in the interim, I am writing my letters and cards and printing pictures for him. Thanks a million for all of your support. Kim
Wow.. when did your son arrive at BC?
Mary, Her son arrived last Wednesday. He was suppose to get there tuesday but his flight was cancelled due to the weather. When did your husband leave? This is all so hard not knowing when PIR will be. Hugs. K
Joseph was scheduled to leave 10/26 from Richmond, VA, as they were leaving out the door of MEPS, we were told that O'Hare airport was shut down due to extreme bad weather. They were sent back to the hotel. We said our goodbyes and headed back to Chesapeake. He called Wednesday, 10/27 at 2pm and they were in the airport and flight was delayed. He arrived in Chicago at 12:23am 10/28.
May, Technically, he arrived Thurs as it was 23 mins after midnight on 27th. He arrived at 12:23am 10/28. He was flying since 2pm 10/27.

I got my first letter today!!! it wasn't a real letter but info about graduation. She was able to put a few things at the end. She said she was doing great and that they had the nicest RDC's. I don't know what that means. They had to list the 4 people they want to come to graduation and she listed grandparents and MOMMY and DADDY! It sounded so funny.
Graduation will be December 17th and she gets 2 weeks off for the holidays. :0)

Jeanne
yes, she did say that she got 2 weeks off. Her training after bootcamp is in Great Lakes though, so I don't know if that applies to those who are leaving and going to a different school. Ashleigh's boyfriend is in the airforce and is stationed on a Naval base in Mississippi. He gets 2 weeks off because the base shuts down. So, i think the whole Navy goes home for Christmas. ha ha
Jeanne
That is awesome Jeanne! I am so glad we will be at PIR together :) Did she say what division she is in? A RDC is a Recruit Division Commander - aka Drill Sergent for the Navy. That is great that she likes hers. I'm sure that will make her time so much more enjoyable! Susan
no, I still haven't gotten around to it. I'm planning on it this weekend. :0)
do any of you know how far the Residence Inn is from the base?
Jeanne
I think it is just a few miles down the road from the base. Susan
