OMG my mouth is hanging open. such a bummer!! At least somebody heard from him and he knew what was up. Bummer! Let's hope they get another call this week??? It didn't sound likely but then what would we have to focus on? Are you all set for PIR? I am so anxious about making arrangements but have moved ahead positively!
I was so excited to receive a letter from our son before we left and then my world fell apart. The rollercoaster ride that everyone talks about. Yes, we have our reservations already for airfare, hotel, and car. Now I that I need is 12/3/10 to get here soon. I can't wait to see all of the sailors in their uniforms, looking and feeling so proud. Are you ready for PIR?
I think so...just need the weeks to go by. Bringing my 80 something year old parentsalong as well.
i don't know whether to be mad or glad that my son is purposely NOT telling me that they are "the worst" division. i feel like he is sugar coating everything so i won't worry but he has to understand that i worry more when i don't know the whole story. in every letter and our brief phone call he just tells me "it's not that bad". our boys should've already done hell week since that was the 4th week. does anyone know how that turned out. is anyone last name Young or Little? that's the guys my son says he talks to...pray for phone calls ladies. I AM! and hopefully a little longer this time...lol
To both you Moms...I think they tell every division that and our div is just fine. Your sailors perhaps are just better at dealing with that. In fact I bet they are the best!!!!! Any letters out there...my mail has not come. No Young or Taylor here. Hang in there ladies and keep the faith!
crossing my fingers xxxxxx
We received a letter from our son yesterday. The letter sounded upbeat and positive and he even told us of a funny thing that happened. I didn't understand the humor but at least the guys had a brief moment to giggle. He said that it is really cold and windy. He heard that they might have snow but hasn't seen any yet. Our son passed his first physical test, YEA!!!!. If I am counting his days correctly, today they would be on 5-1. Also, they had their first fitting for their dress uniform last week. Anyone hear any additonal information about our division?
Julie: A few weeks ago, someone posted a rough outline of the SR's schedule at BC. In my letters I am mentioning things that I thought he might be doing according to the schedule. When we received our second letter from, him he corrected my week count. So now, in any letter, we will give me the week count. Our division actually started a little later than others so the division is on the fast tract. According to our son, Oct 25 was 2-2 (which means week 2 day 2), Oct 28 was 2-5, and Oct 29 was 3-1. I will look back in the posts to see if I can find the outline of BC and if I can find it I will post it.
i got 2 letters yesterday and my son said that they were going to have zone inspection on 10-26 and that they were going to have Marlinspike this week. he ALWAYS says its great and "almost fun". either i have a crazy kid or my thoughts are worse than their reality. if anyone else could share i love to hear what all the fellas in our group say is going on. does anyone else have a grad n go to GL?
dylansmom: Our son is a G&G, going to Nuke school. In reading other posts on N4M, it sounds like all of the Nukes will be leaving for the airport very early on Saturday. This means that we will be spending our time at the USO with him until they actually fly out. I wish we had more time with him, but we will take whatever time we can get. What job did your son sign up for?
my son is going to be a hospital corpsman. i will absolutely take whatever time i get also but i would love to have the whole weekend. i'm not cancelling the hotel for the extra days yet. i'm gonna hope for the best til i know for sure...
I am crossing fingers that since the hospital corpmen stay at Great Lakes we will have the weekend??? We are there until Sunday noon and then back to New England. I can't wait! Would love a call......
