Also... does anyone know the answer to these questions:
Can he bring a watch?
Wallet?
Also... If I write him a note to get him through the first couple week (since he won't receive mail) will he be able to put it in his wallet and keep it through boot camp?!...
hey i see your sailor leaves monday :) exciting.. my sailor just graduated last friday!!

so yes he can take a wallet and no more than $50 i believe. remember to write down all addresses and phone numbers of the people he plans to write on one piece of paper or notecard and out that into his wallet too (i wish someone had told me this before Chad left) also if you want you can write him a cute little not and put that in there too.. (again if i had known lol). nope no watch.

best of luck to your boyfriend
Thanks!! very helpful.

How was your time away while he was at boot camp? Where is he off to for A school!?
Hi! My son leaves on the 9th as well! You're probably anxious, sad, and proud just like I am. It's awesome to feel like I have others who are going through the same thing. I'm going to make sure my son has stamps, a calling card, and an address book and pen. My son's recruiter said $25 is the maximum amount they can have. Others say $10. So I'm not sure. They won't have much opportunity to spend money, so I guess it won't matter. Since he as to bring his SS card, he'll take a wallet, but it will might get shipped back home in "the box". Getting through these next several weeks is going to be rough. My prayers are with you as you say goodbye to your boyfriend. Good luck! Graduation will be here before we know it....
Do you have any idea of what the predicted graduation date will be?
The time away was really rough in the beginning. I cried a lot but once I started getting letters it became a lot easier. I would still have my rough days but they weren't unbearable. He's in GL for a school. He starts monday :)
My Son leaves on November 9th also
@Tammy- recruiter says estimation is Dec 31st or Jan 7th. That CAN change. Recruiter said within a week we will get a letter with his address and a short little note from our navy men!

CL's sailor wife- He left today and surprisingly I am doing well. I did get to go to the hotel where he is staying for MEPS had to leave by 10pm. We both got teary eyed but most of my crying was done earlier in the day while we were alone in the house still. I'm sure I'll break down and cry soon enough.. it's only a matter of time. It is strange being back here with all of his dirty clothes everywhere and his shower stuff still in the shower but oh well! He did manage to get me a NAVY build a bear.. so thoughtful I couldn't believe it when I saw it!
NS <3 JS there is no PIR for 12/31 so your PIR should be 1/7 here is the link to the group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir10711
My son shipped 11-10 ( yesterday) on his 22nd b-day. My husband and I got to spend the day before with him in Chicago and got to be there for the Swearing In. Got teary eyed when I said good bye. Wasn't near as hard as Monday Night listening to he and his brother saying good bye to each other. THAT, my friend, was the hardest thing I have had to do since I said goodbye to my dad when he died. Looking forward to PIR as we want to see that "changed young man" .
We will be the same PIR most likely. Congrats on your son beginning his journey in the Navy. Stay strong! Hopefully this will all fly by!
Im surprisingly good. We have already said goodbye when he went away to college. He finished that and didn't like were it was going so wanted a better degree and education. Stay tuned for PIR dates, that is all I can say!!
