OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I stole this idea from PIR 12/22/10 because I thought it was a good idea :)

List where your child/husband/bf/gf will attend A school and what their rate (job) will be. Spell it out so some of us that aren't up on all of the Navy lingo will understand what it stands for. E.g. - IT is Information Systems Technology.

Remember to only list your loved ones initials, not their full name for security reasons.

My daughter will be in A school at Great Lakes, IL and her rate is AE/CF Advanced Electronics Computer Field.
My son Nic will be attending A school at Great Lakes IL as a AE.CF Advanced Electronic Computer Field
Toward the end of BC, the AECFs will learn if they will be an ET (electronics technician) or an FC (Fire Control technician). I was an ET and loved it. Have you joined the AECF group yet?
no but will thanks
T will be attending A School in Dam Neck, VA, and his rate is IS, which is Intelligence Specialist.
S Will be going to A School, Nuke School in Goose Creek S, Carolina, then Protype at the Nuclear Plant in Goose Creek S. Carolina or Balston Spa, NY Total of 18/24 mos depending on his rate, then heading to Groton, CT, Sub School - due to the extensive school S's enlistment if for 6 yrs.
My nephew is finishing up prototype, and he's got orders for a boat. (Subs are boats, ships are... ships). He says nukes don't go through sub school. I'll let you know when I hear more.
Please Do - I would appreciate that AntiM - It doesnt seem right that they would not receive the BESS Training
Thanks
What's BESS training?
Doesn't seem right to me either, but that's what the nukes keep telling me. I will see when he gets there.
Just had it confirmed on the subgroup, nukes do not do BESS.
My son is to report to SC for his A school. He signed on for 8 years he told me because his school is longer than most (2 years?). I thought he was going to nuke school for nuclear subs, but now I read that they don't go to sub school? How do I find out what his rate is?
