For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

HOLIDAY LEAVE AFTER PIR GRADUATION
I know we are all overjoyed about our sailors coming home after PIR so let's get all of our questions answered here.
Ma'am,
Recruits graduating Dec. 17 & 22 will be granted leave and will be able to travel home. Those graduating Dec. 17 will have their leave expire on Dec. 28. Recruits graduating Dec. 22 will be granted leave that will expire Jan. 2. Recruits are responsible for paying their own way from RTC to their home and then pay for their way from home to their next command for A School. Once they are at their next command, they may request to be reimbursed for part of the travel costs.

Traveling home the Sailors will be required to wear their uniforms because they have not phased in at A School. A letter will be given letting them know what is allowed and not allowed while on Leave. They cannot drive a car or consume alcoholic beverages while on Leave.
Our Sailors will not be allowed to bring their cars to A School.

My husband isn't the recruit, my son is the recruit. My husband is the one who is trying to make thngs easy on himself. I've told him that the Navy isn't worried about how easy things are for him. :)

"Thanks" for the information! Don't know what I would do without this website. It's funny talked to my daughters recruiter awhile back before they left for BC about the Holiday Leave wanting to see if she could work there he said he didn't know anything about Holiday Leave and to just wait to hear from her she would know about it before I did! He just doesn't know moms!

**********UPDATE ON TRAVEL ARRANGEMENT*******
I spoke with PAO once again and there were some conflicting reports on how to proceed with the recruits travel arrangements. This is what they told me, after they researched it.
Some of the recruits have called parents and asked them to make arrangements for them, since they do not have a credit card with them. Please be sure you check with your recruit before you make travel arrangements home. You will need to find out, from them, what time and date they can leave after PIR. If you have already made arrangements for flights for them to come home, you will need to mail your recruit the itinerary. They will need that.
If you decide to drive your recruit to their A school, they will NOT be reimbursed for the cost of gas.
If you have already made arrangements for your recruit to travel, from your home to their A school, they will need to keep their receipt for the flight. They will then file a reimbursement claim for their flight, once they arrive at A school. They have to fly into the airport closest to their A school. I'm not sure if they will need you to send that particular itinerary to boot camp, but I am going to do this, just in case. This way, they will be able to show that they have made arrangements to get from home to A school.

Betsy. I figured they would fly to nearest airport. But how do they get from airport to the A school? If it is somewhere else on here can you let me know where to look so you don't have to answer twice! Thanks!

That's a very good question, Nancy. I called back PAO and found out that they are responsible for getting themselves from the airport to their A school.
So, I guess they will have to get a cab or bus?
