There seems to be so many of you lately!!! It is wonderful that you will have each other's support while going thru the process together.

Thought I would start this thread so you can at least connect and share stories together. Seems like there is a fair amount of you in Great Lakes and just as many more trying to decide if you can more to Great Lakes.

woohoo!! yea im moving to great lakes next thursday =) im sooo excited =)
happy for you Kellie!!! We have lots of new wives lately all wondering about that same move, I know you will be great about sharing with them.
Hi, I was wondering how long it took for you to get to move up there to be with him.
Kellie...My daughter is looking to move up to GL sooner than later. It seems that The A school is going to be longer than what her and Sailor were originally told with all the holds and such. As a mom I am wondering where is the better areas to live in and be around other Navy wives. She will be getting a job at some point. She has looked into work and found some jobs while he was in BC. She has also looked into furnished apts. as she really does not want to have to move everything at this time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..Lonna
hello, I am also planning on moving to IL after my husand's PIR on 8/06/10. How did you go about moving. Did the navy help you or did you move yourself.
hello!!! I was just wondering if you have moved to great lakes yet? I have decided to move to great lakes in Feb 2011. My husbands PIR is Nov. 19th
hi yes, i do live in Great Lakes now and boy is it very cold out here as I am not use to it being from California lol. I hope you like it when you come out
Wow!!! Yes that is a big difference from California!!! Im pretty use to the cold becasue I live in Michigan eek! Lol but now I have decided to move down in January!!! Im so excited!!! My husbands PIR is next Friday and I am so excited. I am going to check out a couple apartments during that weekend just to jumpstart the process.
Good luck there are some nice apartments that have military benefits that are close to the base and in a nice neighborhood. Try these Northgate apartments, AMLI, and Reserve at Eagle Ridge. I hope this helps.
OMG thank you soooo so much! I am going to check these out for sure!! Did the navy move you or did you do it all on your own?
we moved ourselves but it probably would have been easier for them to move us
We've been in GL since January.. Wow what a change! i drove for south Texas up here.. San Antonio to be exact.. it was a Loooong drive. but a good experience anyway.. TX then to Oklahoma.. then Missouri.. then finally Illinois. but all worth it!
