Hi Jewel - My son PIR'd on 11/12 he was a flag bearer in 952. For his PIR. the entire 952 division came out and stood in formation before everyone else came in for pictures and we were able to take pictures. Then another group came out and stood with rifles - I wasn't looking for him then, but there he was! It turned out he didn't carry a flag that day, there were too many "non performers" so he stood with the rifles and someone else carried the flags. After they were done, the group that didn't stay out to perform sat in the very top row of bleachers, so unfortunately we didn't get to sit with him. But ours was a smaller group - less than 600 Sailors.... I hope you do get to see and sit with your recruit, but regardless it is a magical moment.
Any moms in the 905 get a phone call today or received a letter? I would love to know how our kids are doing.
I got a call yesterday!! It was nice to hear from him. I mentioned that your son was in the band and that you and I are friends on here and he said he will check. I told him your son either plays the Tuba or the Trombone. He said it has to be Trombone because they have 1 Tuba and it is a girl, lol.
He sounded in good spirits and said he is a Division leader and has to pass out the mail. He also mentioned that they were all working hard. Maybe our boys will become buddies.
He also said that he is a grad and go, I think the entire division is. He said that if he takes leave that it will put him in the minus, but I have found that it won't take long to build it back. We will see what he does. Hopefully he comes home.
I bought my son a ticket home for leave. And then he goes back up to the Great Lakes for A school AECF. He will bein school for about two more years so I know he will have time to build up more leave. I did not know they were playing instruments up there. That is so cool. Do you know if they will be playing at PIR? My son hasn't picked up the trombone in year and 1/2. I beat he is rusty. I wonder why I haven't gotten a call. (hope his dad didn't get it) he would never tell me a thing even though I share with him info about his son. I am glad to hear that they are getting letters. I have been writing and waiting. But than again my son is not much of a conversationalist. Did I read where your son is going to A school? Well I am off backto work take care, I hope you son comes home.
Dana,
My son said the band is called the "Triple Threat Band" I will let you know if he remembered to talk to you son. He is very friendly but quiet too. He said they are going to play at PIR Graduation. I hope to get a DVD of the ceremony, I know you can buy a copy. Oh, and it sounds like you have an Ex like mine when I was nice enough to call him to let him know I got a call from our son he was a total jerk to me. He sounded mad probably because he didn't get a call. But he wouldn't have been so nice to let me know if the tables were turned. My son will head to Pensacols for A school.

Hi Karen, glad you found us too!!
My daughter is in 905 also. I missed a phone call this past Saturday but she talked to my son and husband and she is doing great. From what I heard she is in the choir. She is coming home after PIR. Not sure if we will make it to PIR. She is staying in GL for A school. She also said that they have to be out of the barracks by the 17th. Glad that I found the division!!!
My daughter is in the choir, too. Soprano, blonde, glasses, married, 27. Is your daughter soprano or alto? Does anyone know if they will sing at PIR?
I forgot to say, over on facebook, the navy recruit training command said that the choir would perform at their own PIR and also 2 previous ones. So cool. I am really excited.
I don't know but from what I hear when she sang to the radio it should be alto. She has strawberry blonde hair whats left. She almost cried when we went to get it cut before bootcamp.
My daughter had 26 year old hair-- never been cut. Her husband cut off her braid with his navy knife. She cried; it was heart wrenching. They made a video and put it on facebook.
I am getting so excited because our kids are in DIV 905 we will see them front and center, they also will not be standing outside waiting to enter. YEAH BAND. Mine is the trombone player!!!! I bet he thought he would not be picking up his horn ever again. I hope he does well, back in the day he had skill, he may be a bit rusty.

Did I say I was excited to see him?
Oh yes, I forgot to say they do sing at the PIR. I saw some on youtube .
