cakemom my son's schooling is at Great Lakes I asked him if he would be starting school that following Monday or be coming home. Great Lakes shuts down for something like two weeks over Christmas. He said that he would not know until right before PIR. He could be put on hold at Great Lakes just like he was on hold there for the first week of boot. I assume that that is the case for all our kids, that they may not know until the very end. I'm lucky in that I am only being 2 hours south I can go and see him when he is in A school.
This is week 4 by my calculations, so if they get through this week theyare defintiely on track for graduation! Although this weke is also called hell week, so I am waiting for it to over before I make the reservations! My prayers are with all of our children...
I have received one letter from my son other than the form letter, and I missed his phone call so he called his girlfriend instead, go I am going insane wondering how he is doing. The next couple of weeks cannot go fast enough. I know that no news is good news, but I would just like to hear his voice. This site helps alot, but just not the same. Is anyone from our group going to the meet and greet on the 2nd? I am still up in the air.
I have only gotten 1 phone call from my son and that was only because he was on sick call for his throat. It only lasted about 10 mins but it was good to hear his voice even if it was horse. We are hoping to make it up there in time for the meet and greet but, not sure we can make it there in time..
hi-my daughter is in same ship/div, same PIR. She will be staying @ great lakes for A-school (corpsman). just thought I'd say hello.
I am hoping to go, it will depend on the airline reservations I make. It will be fun to meet the moms in our ship and division, so let me know if you guys are going! If no one from our ship goes I might not-
Where are you staying? We are staying at the courtyard. I got the best deal there with my goverment discount. We only live acouple of hours south of Great Lakes but when we leave depends on what time my son's girlfriend gets out of class. So if it's late in the afternoon we might not make it for the M&G.
I am staying at a Homewood Suites, my mom works for one of their sister hotels, so I was able to get a really great rate, but it is about 15 miles from the Meet and Greet so I wasnt sure if we were going to go unless some of the other families from our division were going. I would love to meet all you great moms. This group is really great and I appreciate all the information that we share, it makes the time go by so much faster. So thanks to you all for sharing and being fantastic moms.
Oh my God I LOVE Wednesdays! That's the day I get a letter from my son. All day at work I just can"t wait to get home and check the mail. With each letter he sounds so much more mature and really seems to love the Navy. Have any of you noticed a change in your kid?
Me too! I couldn't wait to check the mail!. And you know, I have noticed a difference. He seems to have a new maturity about him in the way he writes. It's incredible isn't it! I am so excited for PIR i can't hardly wait.
I'm a ship 03, div 018 mom -- PIR 12/3/10.....contact me!! staying at the hampton.
I've received 7 letters and had one phone call. Daughter (Brandy) is tired, sore, and homesick -- but spirits are better than when she first got there. Is anyone staying at the Hampton in Lincolnshire? She wrote and told me about the food, their "schedules", the workouts, and gave me names of her friends. Drop me an inbox message so we can chat -- this board is a bit cumbersome....??
