Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

just received first letter and not at all what i expected.. very very homesick and heartbroken

I got my first letter today. I was kind of hoping for more information on what she was up to and how things were going but hey Im just excited to have gotten one:)

what is a questionaaire? is it normal for the first letters to be of homesickness...bad homesickness?

99% of the recruits will send home a letter that says "I hate it here, I made a terrible mistake, I want to come home..." etc. etc. This is an enormous culture shock for them, they're exausted, being yelled at constantly, having to live and work in very close quarters with a bunch of total strangers.......no wonder they're unhappy. BUT......given time they settle down and everything begins to make sense to them. Your job is to be endlessly supportive and encouraging, tell them how proud you are and how you know they can succeed in this. This is not summer camp, they can't come home just because they don't like it there. Remind them that it's only 8 weeks and it will all be over and they'll be sailors.

I am waiting on my first letter. I hope and pray that everything is going ok for her. So when do we need to look out for our first letter? I am so excited just to know whats going on.....

I got mine this past weekend but truthly not what I thought my daughter is absolutly homesick! i hope the next time is better. When does your daughter graduate?

Well as strange as this sounds this makes me feel better. I was so broken on Saturday and still feel terrible about reading all of that.. it makes a mom want to run and rescue them but I know I cannot and this will probably be the hardest thing in her life.. I am writing her today and will be filled with encouragement and inspiration. Thanks for the reply.

leslie...a questionaire is a letter with mostly yes, no, fill in the blank answers...many are silly but yet have important questions that moms need the answer to in them.

Thanks Jessica. I did received my first letter and it was so sad. she's heartbroken and homesick. Hardest letter I have ever read from my daughter. This is really really hard.

Those first letters and calls are often like that...BUT you have got to encourage her. Remind her that boot is only a few weeks and that A school and the fleet is NOTHING like boot.
Tell her she can do it, let her know you are looking forward to seeing her march through those doors at PIR
